Benue State governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, has strongly rebuked those labeling the youth of the state as thugs, urging them to retract such statements and show respect to the hardworking young individuals.
Speaking at Government House Makurdi upon his return from an official trip to the United States, Governor Alia addressed various youth groups who had gathered to welcome him, emphasizing that it was unjust to tarnish the reputation of Benue’s youths with derogatory terms.
He asserted that comments demeaning the state’s youth population not only reflect poorly on the state but also undermine the positive efforts of its young citizens.
Governor Alia called for a cessation of such disparaging remarks, urging individuals who have labeled Benue’s youths as thugs to publicly retract their statements.
He highlighted the significant contributions of Benue’s youth to the state’s development and urged everyone to honor and respect them.
Expressing gratitude to the youth for their unwavering support, Governor Alia disclosed that his trip to the United States was aimed at exploring avenues for steering Benue in a new direction.
He underscored Benue’s potential for development and emphasized the need to showcase the state’s progress on the international stage.
Governor Alia also mentioned Benue’s participation in discussions on addressing insecurity in Northern Nigeria during the trip, highlighting the state’s commitment to finding solutions to regional challenges.

reports that the bout took place at Chaos in the Ring 4 inside Balmoral Hall at the Federal Palace Hotel, where Carter Efe also secured a ₦50 million cash prize following his victory.
The fight ended in his favour by unanimous decision, with all three judges scoring it 27–30.
Speaking after the match, Carter Efe said he felt like a global boxing star and described the fight as surprisingly easy. He claimed he dominated from the opening round and said Portable struggled significantly after absorbing early blows.
According to him, Portable began to lose energy by the second round and appeared unstable, while the final round saw him unable to maintain momentum.
“I am feeling like an international world star. My new name is Carter Mayweather. The fight was so easy. First round, I already damaged his face. Second round, he was shaking. Third round, he fainted,” he said.
Meanwhile, Portable has expressed dissatisfaction over the outcome of the match, alleging unfair treatment after his defeat to Carter Efe.
reports that the singer made the claim during a live Instagram session on Saturday morning, insisting that the fight was not properly judged.
He accused Carter Efe of lacking professionalism and also alleged that the organisers failed to properly count his punches during the contest.
