Comrade Ebunoluwa Famuti, the former deputy gubernatorial candidate of the Socialist Party of Nigeria (SPN) in Oyo State during the 2019 elections, has passed away at the age of 55. Famuti, who was also a staff member of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) in Oyo State, was laid to rest in her hometown, Uso, Ondo State.

Confirming her death, the SPN released a statement signed by its state secretary, Comrade Ayodeji Adigun. The statement described Famuti as not only a dedicated member of the SPN but also an active participant in the Democratic Socialist Movement (DSM), which formed the SPN along with other activists. She was known for her passionate support for social justice and her readiness to contribute materially to advance various struggles.

Famuti’s generosity extended to providing her vehicle, used for commercial purposes, at no cost for the SPN’s campaign in 2019. She was actively involved in the party’s activities, attending meetings, participating in interventions in the struggles of working people, and distributing literature to promote socialist ideas.

The SPN expressed condolences to Famuti’s family, NULGE, friends, and associates, urging workers, youths, and the masses to join in the party’s mission for socialist transformation in Nigeria. They emphasized that this was the only system that could ensure the better society Famuti had tirelessly advocated for.
