In the wake of the devastating incident where Junior Pope and three others lost their lives in a boat capsizing on the Anam River in Anambra State, Luke has faced intense scrutiny.

Breaking her silence in a video message shared on her Instagram account, Luke disclosed details surrounding the availability of life jackets during the ill-fated journey. She explained, “My director and the Director of Photography (DOP) were both equipped with life jackets. There was still one available, but I don’t know who took it.”

Luke continued, recounting the account relayed to her by her producer manager. According to Luke, her manager informed her that efforts were made to provide Junior Pope with a life jacket. However, Junior Pope declined, expressing concerns about its cleanliness.

Despite the presence of life jackets, Luke conveyed that tragedy struck as the boat capsized. She recounted how survivors mentioned that Junior Pope had been present, expressing concern for everyone’s safety before suddenly disappearing.

Just a year after promoter Eddie Hearn hinted that 2026 might mark Joshua’s retirement, the former two-time heavyweight champion is rethinking his timeline. This change follows a challenging period that included a tragic car accident in Nigeria which claimed the lives of two close friends. Although Joshua sustained minor injuries, the incident led him to step away briefly to mourn before returning to the gym.
