Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Wednesday, Ortom questioned whether Nigerians were blind to Tinubu’s achievements, specifically highlighting the cancellation of the petrol subsidy as a crucial step. He emphasized that past leaders tried for years to scrap the subsidy, whereas Tinubu ended it on his very first day in office, pointing out that these changes are actively reshaping the nation.

Ortom noted that his alignment with Tinubu began in 2023 following the appointment of former Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike as the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). He publicly endorsed Tinubu at Wike’s Port Harcourt reception, asserting that his stance has remained consistent since 2023.

Shifting focus to state politics, Ortom declared that he will support the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Michael Aondoakaa, for Benue State. Speaking in a statement released to media members in Benin, Edo State—as highlighted by Naija News—Imasuagbon urged citizens, especially in the North, to back the ADC’s presidential flagbearer, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, portraying him as a unifying figure capable of resolving Nigeria’s economic hurdles.

According to Imasuagbon, Atiku possesses the necessary political background and administrative capability to heal national fractures and maintain consistency without letting the populace down. He noted that Nigeria has grappled with deep-seated social and economic hardships such as hunger, poverty, and severe distress, which demand experienced leadership to enact true transformation.

Furthermore, Imasuagbon pointed out that Atiku intends to reopen Nigeria’s land borders with adjacent nations as a primary economic strategy, contending that previous border closures damaged legal commerce and fueled inflation on food and commodities. He stated that restoring border trade would boost regional commerce and bring down prices nationwide.
