The operation, conducted based on precise intelligence, enabled the army to intercept the terrorists effectively. During the encounter, the soldiers engaged the terrorists, resulting in the death of three and the confiscation of several weapons.
This triumph was disclosed by the Nigerian Army in a recent post on its X (formerly Twitter) handle, emphasizing the success of the troops in the ongoing battle against insurgency in the region.
The clash at Kidandan Village highlights the intensified efforts of the Nigerian Army to combat terrorist activities in Kaduna State and its environs. It is part of a broader counter-terrorism operation aimed at dismantling the networks and capabilities of insurgent groups threatening the peace and security of the region.
The post stated, “In a recent successful counter-terrorism operation, Nigerian Army troops have neutralised a group of terrorists in an ambush operation in Kaduna State. Acting on credible intelligence, the troops targeted the terrorist group, known for using motorbikes to carry out nefarious activities in the region.
“During the operation on Friday, April 4, 2024, around Kidandan Village, Giwa Local Government of Kaduna State, the troops engaged the terrorists in a gun battle, neutralising three of them. The terrorist group was in transit to repair their motorbikes, which they used as mobility when unleashing their acts of terror on the populace in Kaduna State and across the Northwest region.
“The operation also led to the recovery of one AK-47 rifle, one stock AK-47 rifle, four motorbikes, and one Motorola radio.
“The Nigerian Army remains committed to the ongoing counter-terrorism, counter-insurgency operations to ensure the safety and security of the populace.
“We therefore enjoin members of the public to continue to support Nigerian Army troops and other security operatives as they continue to strive to mitigate security challenges in the country.”

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arraigned Yusuf Oyepeju before the Oyo State High Court sitting in Ibadan. According to a statement released in Ibadan on Wednesday by EFCC’s Head of Media and Publicity, Dele Oyewale, the case stems from a relationship that began on an Islamic WhatsApp educational platform where both Oyepeju and the victim, Fasasi Bayonle, served as tutors. Bayonle, an Islamic cleric based in Dubai, eventually fell victim to a severe betrayal of trust.
From Benefactor to Alleged Victim
Investigations revealed that the saga began in 2018 when Oyepeju approached Bayonle seeking financial assistance for accommodation after getting married. Rather than a cash handout, Bayonle permitted Oyepeju to temporarily move into his vacant property located at the Ikumapayi area of Olodo, Ibadan, before relocating to the UAE.
Authorities stated that Oyepeju, posing as a property developer, subsequently convinced Bayonle to fund land purchases and housing construction projects in Ibadan, transferring a total of ₦8,697,900 between February and August 2020. However, the arrangement turned sour when Oyepeju allegedly forged a “Transfer of Agreement,” sold the very house he was given to live in for free to companies linked to him, and converted the proceeds. Investigators also discovered that he never purchased or developed the promised land.
Court Proceedings and Remand
Appearing before Justice Olusola Adetujoye, Oyepeju pleaded not guilty to all charges. Following his plea, prosecuting counsel Sanusi Galadanchi requested a trial date and asked that the defendant be remanded. Meanwhile, defense counsel B. Ajibola informed the court that a bail application had already been filed and served.
Justice Adetujoye adjourned the proceedings for the hearing of the bail application and ordered that Oyepeju be remanded at the Agodi Correctional Centre, Ibadan, pending the next court date.
