According to SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the Command’s spokesman, the suspect was caught red-handed while leading a group of thugs in assaulting a hotel staff member. The assault was reportedly contracted by a disgruntled hotel patron who refused to comply with the establishment’s no-smoking policy.

What makes this case even more egregious is the suspect’s audacity to masquerade as a serving military officer, despite being dismissed from the Nigeria Navy a staggering 24 years ago in 2000. Despite his dismissal, the suspect shamelessly continued to portray himself as an active-duty naval officer, exploiting his fabricated status to carry out acts of thuggery for financial gain.

Hundeyin disclosed that the suspect charged a hefty sum of N20,000 to deploy his gang of thugs to intimidate and assault individuals on behalf of his clients. Such brazen disregard for the law and abuse of power is not only reprehensible but also poses a grave threat to public safety and security.

Assuring swift justice, Hundeyin affirmed that the suspect would be promptly arraigned to face the full wrath of the law for his despicable actions. This arrest serves as a stern warning to all individuals who dare to exploit their former affiliations for nefarious purposes, as law enforcement agencies remain vigilant in rooting out such criminal elements from our society.

As the investigation unfolds, it is imperative that authorities take decisive action to ensure that justice is served and that the victims of this individual’s reprehensible conduct receive the closure and restitution they rightfully deserve.

  • Economic and Social Impact: NCC Director-General, Dr. John Asein, emphasized that organized piracy is a major criminal enterprise that undermines Nigeria’s creative economy, destroys jobs, and weakens national security.

  • Intersecting Supply Chains: Both agencies identified that the same clandestine networks, transportation routes, and financial channels used for drug trafficking are frequently utilized to distribute pirated goods and launder criminal proceeds.

  • Inter-Agency Synergy: The leadership of both organizations highlighted the importance of moving away from isolated operations toward a collaborative model that leverages the specific expertise and intelligence capabilities of each agency.

The initiative aims to more effectively disrupt illegal supply chains, dismantle criminal structures, and protect both the creative sector and the general public from the influence of organized crime.
