Rivers State Governor Denounces Purported PDP Caretaker Committee List, Promises Continued Pressure on Wike’s Faction

Governor Sim Fubara of Rivers State has declared his intention to maintain pressure on the camp of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, amid ongoing tensions in the state. Fubara issued this warning in response to a purported list circulating on social media, claiming to represent the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Caretaker Committee members for the state……..READ ALSO

Addressing the situation at the ground breaking of an automobile spare parts market in Port Harcourt, Fubara dismissed the list as fraudulent and attributed it to the machinations of individuals seeking cheap publicity and stirring up conflict.

The rift between Fubara and Wike, his predecessor, has plunged Rivers State into crisis, with tensions escalating since their fallout.

Fubara clarified that the extension of the Executive Councils of the PDP for three months, as agreed upon in a recent meeting, was not intended to introduce new names or undermine the authority of the governor. He emphasized that any lists circulating without proper authorization would not be recognized.

Asserting his stance, Fubara stated: “What you are seeing is the handiwork of desperate people who seek media publicity. In fact, empty drums make the loudest noise. So, don’t bother about anything. Nothing is happening.”

Furthermore, Fubara assured supporters that the decision would be ratified during a forthcoming NEC meeting on April 18th, reinforcing the legitimacy of the state government’s actions.

In a defiant tone, Fubara affirmed his commitment to keeping Wike’s camp restless, vowing to confront any attempts to destabilize the state. He promised continued pressure and decisive actions against those attempting to sow discord.

Amidst the uncertainty generated by the circulating lists, Fubara urged residents to remain calm, assuring them that the government would uphold stability and resist external interference.

As tensions simmer in Rivers State, Governor Fubara’s uncompromising stance signals a determination to assert control and uphold the integrity of the state’s governance against perceived threats.

THE REAL REASON FUBARA QUIT: “Wike Has No Hand In This!” — Yilwatda Drops Shocking Update On Rivers APC Saga!.

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Nentawe Yilwatda, has firmly cleared the air regarding the internal politics of the Rivers State chapter, asserting that the party played no role in Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s sudden withdrawal from the APC governorship primary.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Appearing on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Monday evening, Yilwatda maintained that Governor Fubara’s decision to pull out of the race was entirely personal and voluntary, emphasizing that the party strictly adhered to democratic guidelines and due process from start to finish.

According to the party boss, Fubara had successfully navigated all preliminary stages of the election before making his unexpected exit.

“He pulled out; he stepped down. It is a decision that is entirely personal to him. He purchased the expression of interest and nomination forms, presented himself for screening, passed the screening cleanly, and we were fully prepared for the primaries before he opted to step down,” Yilwatda clarified.

“Wike Belongs to the PDP” — APC Boss Dismisses Interference Claims

The national chairman flatly debunked widespread speculation that the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, manipulated the logistics or influenced the outcome of the Rivers APC primary to block Fubara from securing the ticket.

Brushing off questions about Wike’s alleged backdoor control of the state’s opposition structure, Yilwatda stated simply:

“Wike is not a member of our party. He belongs to the PDP.”

Strict Financial Rules Behind Aspirant Disqualifications

Addressing the controversies surrounding the disqualification of several other aspirants during the screening exercise, Yilwatda emphasized that the APC national working committee will never compromise on constitutional guidelines. He revealed that multiple contestants failed the basic criteria of financial compliance.

“Our party guidelines are crystal clear: before you are certified eligible to contest for any position, you must be a financially up-to-date member of the party. The APC constitution mandates that you must provide undeniable evidence of paying your membership dues before you can vote, be voted for, or be nominated,” he explained.

“If an individual has not cleared their dues and lacks proof of being a financial member, they stand automatically disqualified. You must first be a dedicated member of the APC.”

On Chinda’s Defection and Gaining the Governorship Ticket

When questioned about the legality and eligibility of Hon. Kingsley Chinda—a prominent House of Representatives member and former Minority Leader in the lower chamber—who successfully defected and clinched the Rivers APC governorship ticket, Yilwatda defended the process, clarifying the party’s stance on new entrants.

“He officially defected to our fold. Our party operates without a complex waiver system. Even if you cross over to the APC today, you are immediately entitled to enjoy equal rights and privileges with every founding member, provided you have been properly and legally registered at your ward level,” Yilwatda concluded.

Wike disclosed this on Monday during an extensive inspection tour of critical road and infrastructure projects across the nation’s capital, which have been slated for formal commissioning ahead of the June celebrations.

The aggressive infrastructural projects are being wrapped up to mark the third anniversary of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration. The inspection covered massive infrastructural hubs, including:

  • The Renewed Hope City Access Road in Karsana District.

  • The Old Keffi Road Rehabilitation project.

  • FCT Highway 105 (linking Airport Road to Kuje).

Expressing absolute satisfaction with both the speed and execution of the engineering firms on-site, the FCT Minister described the progress as a major milestone for residents of Abuja.

“Today is one of my happiest days, seeing that these heavily anticipated projects are now fully primed for inauguration,” Wike stated excitedly.

Shifting focus to the aesthetic redesign of the federal capital’s entrance, the Minister noted that the project underscores the strategic contributions of the First Lady to the success of the current administration.

“This is what you get when you have a supportive wife who genuinely means well for her husband’s administration. I am talking about the First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu,” Wike said.

“This facelift is completely her brainchild, and I am certain she will be incredibly proud of what has been achieved here.”

Julius Berger Delivers Midnight Magic

The Minister extended high praise to the construction giant handling the project, Julius Berger, guaranteeing that the new installations will completely redefine the entry experience into Nigeria’s seat of power.

“I am very pleased with Julius Berger and the premium quality of work delivered. I am confident that anyone driving into the capital city at night will experience a beautifully transformed scenery as they enter the nation’s capital,” Wike concluded.

With construction crews working around the clock, the FCT administration is fully set to hand over these landmark projects to the public by June.

WILL HE BE BANNED? Tensions Skyrocket Across Nigeria As Judge Rules On Jonathan’s ‘Third Term’ Debate Today!.

Published

on

ABUJA, FCT — The Federal High Court sitting in Abuja will today, May 26, 2026, deliver its highly anticipated judgment on a constitutional suit seeking to permanently disqualify former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan from entering the 2027 presidential race.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Presiding Judge, Justice Peter Lifu, is expected to give a definitive legal interpretation on whether Jonathan—who has already taken the presidential oath of office twice—can legally vie for the nation’s highest office again under the current constitutional framework.

This judicial showdown comes on the heels of an explosive political development, where a faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) led by Kabiru Tanimu Turaki reportedly cleared the path for Jonathan by offering him an official waiver to stand as their sole consensus candidate for 2027.

The Core Legal Battle: Is a ‘Third Term’ Constitutionally Valid?

The legal battle was initiated by an Abuja-based legal practitioner, Johnmary Jideobi, who is praying the court to issue a perpetual injunction restraining the former president from presenting himself to any political party for nomination.

Furthermore, the plaintiff is seeking an explicit order to restrain the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from accepting, processing, vetting, or publishing Goodluck Jonathan’s name as a presidential flagbearer.

Justice Lifu slated today for the final verdict after hearing intense, extensive arguments from both the plaintiff’s legal team and defense counsels.

Constitutional Bottlenecks Under Scrutiny

To determine Jonathan’s fate, the court has been asked to strictly interpret key democratic guidelines within the 1999 Constitution (as amended).

The plaintiff wants the court to declare Jonathan ineligible by interpreting:

  • Section 1 (1), (2), and (3): Dealing with the supremacy and binding nature of the Constitution.

  • Section 137 (3): The crucial constitutional amendment that bars any individual who succeeded a president and completed their term from being sworn into the office of the President more than twice.

As political tension grips major parties across the country, today’s verdict will either completely crush the Turaki-led PDP faction’s blueprint to field Jonathan or open a dramatic new chapter in the race for the 2027 presidency.
