The trio, alongside other defendants including Jibrilla Muhammad, Lamash Properties Ltd, Safari Textiles Ltd, and Lesage General Enterprises, are facing charges related to corrupt practices, as detailed in the legal proceedings.
Reports indicate that the state has gathered a formidable lineup of 15 witnesses to provide testimony against Ganduje and his co-accused.
Upon assuming office, the current governor of Kano State, Abba Yusuf, raised allegations of financial misconduct against Ganduje, citing misappropriation of public funds and irregular allocation of land to certain family members.
One of the charges outlined in the legal documentation accuses Ganduje of soliciting and receiving $200,000 as personal benefit from a contractor involved in projects authorized by the Kano State Government during his tenure as governor.
In another instance, Ganduje is alleged to have collected a kickback of $213,000 linked to contracts for the remodeling of Kantin Kwari textile market.
Additionally, the state authorities assert that Ganduje, together with his spouse Hafsat Umar and businessman Abubakar Bawuro, conspired to unlawfully convert N1.376 billion through Safari Textile Ltd, funds intended for the procurement of medical supplies for the health sector.
The Attorney General of Kano State, Muhuyi Magaji, citing relevant legal provisions, emphasized his authority to bring forth these charges against the defendants, underscoring the seriousness with which the state is pursuing the matter.
