In a surprising turn of events, Nigerian indigenous rapper, Zlatan Ibile, has unveiled a stunning revelation about his past, disclosing that his true dream was not music but rather a career in football, with aspirations to don the renowned jersey of FC Barcelona.…..READ ALSO
Speaking candidly about his unconventional journey into the music industry, Zlatan Ibile disclosed that his initial passion lay in the world of football. However, his dreams of sporting glory were dashed by what he described as rampant corruption within the Nigerian football system.
“Football was my true calling. I dreamt of gracing the fields of FC Barcelona, but the harsh realities of corruption within Nigerian football stifled my aspirations,” Zlatan Ibile lamented.
Struggling academically during his secondary school years and faced with the prospect of a year-long hiatus after failing his WAEC examinations, Zlatan Ibile found solace and a newfound passion in music through a serendipitous encounter with a friend’s recording.
“I was not a bright student in secondary school. I struggled with Mathematics and Accounting. I was in a Commercial class. I failed my WAEC and I was supposed to sit at home for a year. All my dream was to play for Barcelona,” Zlatan Ibile confessed.
“I tried my possible best but the corruption in Nigerian football discouraged me. I was playing for a local club then. When I failed WAEC, I was going to sit down at home for a year, and then one of my friends came and played his record for me. I told him to take me to the studio the next time he was going. That was how I became a musician. I never had the intention of being a musician.”
Despite the unforeseen trajectory of his career, Zlatan Ibile has emerged as one of Nigeria’s most prominent indigenous rappers, carving out a niche for himself in the competitive music industry. With hits like ‘Zanku’ propelling him to stardom and accolades such as the Best Collaboration at the Headies in 2019 under his belt, Zlatan Ibile’s musical journey stands as a testament to the unpredictable twists and turns of fate.
As he continues to make waves in the music scene and inspire millions with his unique blend of talent and charisma, Zlatan Ibile’s story serves as a reminder that sometimes, life’s greatest surprises lead us down paths we never imagined, ultimately shaping our destinies in unforeseen ways.
