Where Is Oba Of Lagos? Nigerians React As Salaries Of Southern Traditional Rulers Emerge....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

In a startling revelation, historical documents have surfaced, shedding light on the salaries of Southern traditional rulers during the colonial era, sparking mixed reactions from Nigerians.…READ ALSO

The document, dated January 1938 and sourced from the federal ministry of information national archive, reveals the salaries of prominent traditional rulers, including the Alaafin of Oyo, Alake of Egbaland, Awujale of Ijebu, Oba of Benin, and Ooni of Ife, among others. However, notably missing from the list is the Oba of Lagos, raising eyebrows and prompting questions about his absence.

According to the document, the Alaafin of Oyo received the highest salary of €4,200, followed by the Alake of Egbaland with €2,250, and the Awujale of Ijebu with €1,700. Surprisingly, the Ooni of Ife, traditionally regarded as one of the paramount rulers in Yorubaland, received a lower salary of €1,400 compared to some of his counterparts.

Nigerians took to social media to express their reactions to the revelations, with some attributing the disparity in salaries to the historical relationships between the colonial masters and the traditional rulers. One user highlighted the close friendship between the Alaafin of Oyo and a British official as a possible reason for the preferential treatment and higher salary.

However, questions were raised about the authenticity of the document, with some users pointing out anomalies such as modern fonts and questioning its credibility. Others suggested delving into historical literature, citing Professor JA Atanda’s work, “The New Oyo Empire,” as a valuable resource to understand the context behind the discrepancies in salaries.

Amidst the discussions and debates sparked by the emergence of these historical documents, Nigerians are left pondering the whereabouts of the Oba of Lagos and grappling with the implications of these revelations on the understanding of Nigeria’s colonial history and traditional institutions. As the discourse unfolds, one thing remains clear: the curiosity and thirst for knowledge about Nigeria’s rich and complex history continue to drive conversations and reflections in the digital age.

Ambassadorial Nomination Under Fire: Frank Tie Tie Exposes ‘Mistake’ Regarding Ex-FUOYE VC Fasina!.

Human rights lawyer Frank Tietie has criticized the nomination and subsequent confirmation of Professor Abayomi Fasina, the former Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University, Oye-Ekiti, as a non-career ambassador designate.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

  • Prior to his confirmation, a coalition of civil society organizations protested at the National Assembly on July 7, 2026, opposing Fasina’s nomination due to pending court cases involving allegations of sexual harassment, human rights violations, and victimization.

  • Despite these protests, the Nigerian Senate officially confirmed Fasina’s appointment as a non-career ambassador on Thursday.

Frank Tietie’s Position

  • During an interview on ARISE Television, Tietie argued that nominating an individual with such “baggage” was a mistake, emphasizing that ambassadors represent Nigeria in the same capacity as the President.

  • Tietie stated that the government should have sent the “right signals” by avoiding such controversial appointments, especially given the current state of governance.

  • He argued that even in the absence of a final court judgment, the allegations themselves have “tainted” Fasina’s reputation, and the Senate should have delayed the confirmation until the legal matters were resolved.

  • Tietie also suggested that the National Assembly’s decision overlooks significant social changes regarding how such allegations are now viewed by society.
