Joseph Odemuyiwa, Former Senior Special Adviser, Dies at 66 in Tragic Accident
Joseph Odemuyiwa, the immediate past Senior Special Adviser to the Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, on Vocational and Technical Education, has tragically passed away at the age of 66. Reports indicate that Odemuyiwa lost his life in a ghastly accident while en route to Ibadan on Tuesday.
Confirming the sad news, Dickson Awolaja, the lawmaker representing Remo North State constituency, expressed his condolences, describing Odemuyiwa’s death as a profound loss. He revealed that the accident occurred while Odemuyiwa was traveling to Ibadan.
Odemuyiwa, a former lecturer at the Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago Iwoye, and Tai Solarin University of Education, Ijagun, was highly respected in educational circles in Ogun State. His untimely demise has left many in shock and mourning.
Meanwhile, in other developments, Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has raised concerns over the escalating incidence of cultism in the state. Addressing the issue at the South-west Zonal Conference of State Directors of Security in Abeokuta, the governor expressed alarm that even schoolchildren and artisans were becoming involved in cult activities.
Governor Abiodun urged security forces to delve into the root causes behind the surge in cultism, including the motives driving individuals to join these groups and the alarming rates of violence associated with cult activities. He called on the Department of State Services (DSS) to conduct a thorough investigation into the growing menace of cultism in the state.
