Expressing deep concern over the pervasive influence of Western culture, Dotun lamented the growing disconnect many Nigerian youths have with their own cultural roots.
In a candid statement, Dotun bemoaned the unfortunate reality that a significant number of young Nigerians struggle to converse in their native language, citing it as a poignant example of cultural erosion.
“An average Nigerian probably doesn’t know how to speak their native language, which is quite sad,” he remarked. “Even as easy as Yoruba is, some people can’t speak it. I might be guilty as well, but at least I can speak to an extent.”
Highlighting the importance of preserving cultural identity, Dotun emphasized the intrinsic value of Nigerian heritage in shaping national identity. He underscored the richness of Nigerian culture, stressing that it distinguishes Nigerians and serves as a source of pride.
