The saga, which has captivated public attention, took a new twist as Wunmi, the widow of the acclaimed artist Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, stood her ground amidst mounting pressure for a paternity test on her son, Liam.

Amidst calls from Mohbad’s father and concerned Nigerians for a DNA test to determine the true paternity of Liam, Wunmi had previously expressed her openness to the idea, insisting that the test should be conducted both domestically and internationally.

However, in a series of emotional Instagram posts, Wunmi revealed the challenges she and Liam are facing, alleging threats and coercion.

“Nigerians, Liam and I are pleading for your mercy! Will you let history repeat itself? We are being threatened daily, stripped of our freedom! Nigerians, please lend us your support,” she implored.

Adding fuel to the controversy, Wunmi disclosed the pressure she faced from Mohbad’s father to conceive a child, questioning the sudden demand for a DNA test.

“I never planned to have a child then, but baba insisted that the Holy Spirit instructed him to have a grandson who would eventually bury him. I discovered I was pregnant on the 5th of August that same year, and my father-in-law was overjoyed by the news,” she revealed.

Undeterred by the accusations and pressure, Wunmi defiantly declared her readiness to undergo the DNA test, challenging her father-in-law to take legal action.

“Obtain a court order because it’s time to silence my detractors,” Wunmi proclaimed, signaling her determination to confront the allegations head-on.

As the saga unfolds, the public awaits the outcome of this high-stakes dispute, which has thrust the late Mohbad’s family into the spotlight and sparked widespread debate on matters of paternity, family dynamics, and legal recourse.

Reflecting on the darkest moments of her illness, Abubakar expressed pain over the total lack of visits or check-ins from certain colleagues, stating that she felt left to her fate. However, she emphasized that she holds no sense of entitlement toward anyone.

“They don’t owe me anything, and I do not owe them anything,” she stated, attributing her survival entirely to her faith in God.

At the same press conference, tensions flared between content creators Carter Efe and Peller as they head into their respective celebrity bouts. Carter Efe, who is preparing to face Speed Darlington following his victory over Portable in May, openly accused Peller of hacking his TikTok account—which recently suffered a permanent ban despite Peller denying involvement and pointing to Carter Efe’s livestream activities. The war of words highlights their ongoing social media rivalry, which has previously featured public clashes over Peller’s relationship with Jarvis and mutual accusations.

Beyond the celebrity matchups, the event features a major Nigeria-Ghana heavyweight professional clash between Nigerian fighter Godday “Zodsolo” Appah and UK-based Ghanaian boxer Seth “Freezy Macbones” Gyimah. Both athletes have traded sharp words, with Godday promising a two-round knockout and Freezy claiming to have mapped out weaknesses to exploit. Additional professional bouts on the card include Ezra Arenyeka versus Mikomobi, Basit “Joker Boy” Adebayo versus Fatiu Ijomoni, and Yusuf Adeniji versus David Tagoe.

Balmoral Promotions executive chairman Dr. Ezekiel Adamu emphasized that the organization capitalizes on organic rivalries rather than manufacturing them, promising fans an action-packed “night of war and chaos” that delivers high value. Looking beyond the October 1 event, Adamu outlined broader ambitions to establish Africa as a premier global boxing destination by staging continental and world title fights in Nigeria to showcase the continent’s elite talent to the world.
