Led by the Commissioner for Land and Survey, Hon. Matthew Nwobashi, the peace committee has initiated the demarcation process for the communities of Amana and Ohanku, situated in Ezza South and Ikwo Local Government areas, respectively.
Describing the commencement of the demarcation as a resounding success, Hon. Nwobashi expressed gratitude for the collaborative efforts of both communities, emphasizing their crucial role in promoting peace and understanding. He urged stakeholders to continue their unwavering support in fostering a conducive environment for peaceful coexistence.
“All the teams came in their good numbers, and we visited the site. We have equally made some agreements in some certain areas. Both villages have agreed in some certain areas; we have measured the land and it only remains for our technical team to go round and complete the action,” he remarked.
Dr. Ilang Donatus, a committee member and the State Commissioner for Border Peace and Conflicts Resolution, lauded the commitment of the team in spearheading efforts towards conflict resolution. He highlighted the state government’s proactive approach in implementing necessary measures to address boundary disputes effectively and ensure a lasting resolution.
“We are pleased that these people are following us together, resolving the grey area and accepting the points marked as their boundary, and as such, it is a welcome development. So, just like here in Amana and Ohanku, the governor formulated this peace committee to ensure that permanent peace is entrenched in all communities of the state,” Dr. Donatus affirmed.
The initiative underscores the state government’s unwavering commitment to fostering unity, stability, and progress across communities, reflecting a collective determination to overcome challenges and build a brighter future for all residents.
