The suspension, triggered by Ningi’s allegation of a staggering N3.7 trillion budget padding by the National Assembly, has sparked outrage among concerned citizens striving to uphold the integrity of their elected representatives.

Issuing a resounding call for justice, the Arewa group demands the immediate lifting of Senator Ningi’s suspension and urges the Executive arm of government to conduct a thorough investigation into the allegations. Alhaji Alhassan Sabo and Dr. Susan Ogbaji, Chairman and Secretary of the initiative respectively, underscore the gravity of the situation and emphasize the need for transparency and accountability in governance.

In a strongly-worded statement released from Jos, the group expresses deep dismay over the unfolding events in the Senate Chamber, lamenting the erosion of public trust in the very institution entrusted with safeguarding the interests of the Nigerian people. The allegation of budget padding, if proven true, strikes at the heart of national integrity and threatens the economic well-being of future generations.

“We cannot remain silent in the face of such blatant disregard for the welfare of our nation,” the statement declares. “Senator Abdul Ningi’s courage in exposing this grave misconduct deserves commendation, not punishment. The Senate’s hasty decision to suspend him speaks volumes about the entrenched corruption plaguing our legislative process.”

The Arewa group asserts its commitment to peace and development in the North and across Nigeria, emphasizing that political neutrality has never compromised their dedication to upholding truth and justice. They call upon all Nigerians to unite in solidarity with Senator Ningi and demand accountability from those entrusted with leadership roles.

“Enough is enough,” the statement declares emphatically. “We refuse to tolerate the continued oppression of the Nigerian masses by a select few who prioritize personal gain over national interest. We demand immediate action from the Senate leadership to rectify this grave injustice and restore faith in our democratic institutions.”

With a firm resolve to mobilize support from across the nation, the Arewa group issues a rallying cry for justice and accountability, signaling their unwavering commitment to defending the rights and aspirations of the Nigerian people.

“UNBELIEVABLE OUTRAGE: POCHETTINO DEMANDS CHELSEA BE STRIPPED OF THEIR 2016-17 PREMIER LEAGUE TITLE!”.

Following financial rule breaches tied to the Roman Abramovich era—which resulted in a £10 million fine and a suspended two-window transfer ban from the Football Association, alongside a £10.75 million Premier League fine in March for using unlicensed agents and concealing transfers between 2009 and 2022—Mauricio Pochettino has argued that Chelsea should be stripped of their 2016-17 Premier League title, with the trophy instead retroactively granted to Tottenham.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The investigated infractions involved several high-profile player deals, including those for Eden Hazard, Willian, David Luiz, and Nemanja Matic, all of whom were instrumental in Antonio Conte’s title-winning campaign while Pochettino’s Tottenham finished as runners-up seven points adrift. Because Chelsea admitted to the infractions and faced punishment, Pochettino maintains that Tottenham were denied a level playing field, suggesting that equal rules might have allowed Spurs to recruit better players and strengthen their squad.

Although he clarified that his stance was not intended to undermine Antonio Conte’s management or Chelsea’s on-field displays, Pochettino emphasized that rule-breaking must carry strict retrospective consequences to maintain competitive fairness, comparing it to playing under unequal conditions. The historical violations were originally self-reported by Chelsea’s current owners, BlueCo, after acquiring the club in 2022.

During an interview with Arise News, Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate Peter Obi alleged that Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Chairman Mahmood Yakubu worked on behalf of the political opposition during the 2023 general elections. Obi noted that while Nigerians and the international community trusted INEC’s assurances and took the electoral process for granted in 2023, a similar mistake will not be repeated in 2027, emphasizing that voters will ensure the right steps are taken themselves.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

In a separate interview with Arise Television on Thursday, Peter Obi outlined his economic strategy for the 2027 election, pledging to reduce fuel pump prices if elected. The former Anambra State governor asserted that the current high cost of petrol is driven by corruption within the fuel subsidy regime, rather than the subsidy removal itself. He promised to eliminate this corruption, which he claims will lead to a significant drop in fuel costs. Additionally, Obi rejected the notion that the removal of the fuel subsidy has exacerbated poverty in the Northern region, attributing the ongoing economic hardship and insecurity to other, separate factors.
