  1. Flu-Like Symptoms: Many individuals experience flu-like symptoms shortly after contracting HIV. These symptoms may include fever, chills, body aches, sore throat, swollen lymph nodes, and fatigue. While these symptoms may resemble those of the flu, they typically persist for an extended period.
  2. Rash: HIV-related rash is a common early symptom characterized by red or purple lesions on the skin. The rash may appear on the chest, back, abdomen, arms, legs, or face and is often accompanied by itching. It typically resolves on its own but may reappear at later stages of HIV infection.
  3. Night Sweats: Experiencing night sweats, particularly soaking through your clothes while sleeping, can be a sign of HIV infection. Night sweats often occur as a result of the body’s immune response to the virus.
  4. Weight Loss: Unexplained weight loss is a common symptom of HIV, particularly during the later stages of infection. HIV can cause a loss of appetite and changes in metabolism, leading to unintentional weight loss.
  5. Recurrent Infections: HIV weakens the immune system, making individuals more susceptible to infections. Recurrent infections, such as thrush (oral candidiasis), pneumonia, tuberculosis, and chronic diarrhea, may indicate underlying HIV infection.
  6. Fatigue: Persistent fatigue and weakness are common symptoms of HIV. Even with adequate rest, individuals may feel constantly tired and lacking in energy due to the virus’s impact on the body’s immune system.
  7. Swollen Lymph Nodes: HIV can cause the lymph nodes, particularly those in the neck, armpits, and groin, to become swollen and tender. Enlarged lymph nodes may persist for an extended period and are a common early sign of HIV infection.
  8. Neurological Symptoms: As HIV progresses, it can affect the nervous system, leading to neurological symptoms such as headaches, difficulty concentrating, memory loss, and neuropathy (nerve damage). These symptoms may worsen over time if left untreated.
  9. Frequent Fevers: HIV can cause recurrent low-grade fevers, which may come and go without explanation. These fevers are often accompanied by other flu-like symptoms and may indicate an underlying HIV infection.
  10. Unexplained Symptoms: In some cases, individuals with HIV may experience a range of unexplained symptoms that do not fit into a specific category. These symptoms may include joint pain, muscle stiffness, night blindness, and cognitive impairment.

If you experience any of these symptoms and suspect that you may have been exposed to HIV, it is essential to seek medical attention promptly. Early diagnosis and treatment can help manage the virus effectively and improve long-term outcomes. Testing for HIV is simple, confidential, and widely available, so don’t hesitate to get tested if you have any concerns.

Momodu had argued that a pairing of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi could perform strongly in the election, citing their past collaboration in 2019 and Obi’s 2023 electoral performance.

Responding, Tanko questioned the logic of choosing a candidate who might win a primary but lose the general election, insisting that the Obi–Kwankwaso combination would be more formidable.

He further warned that if the ADC fails to zone its presidential ticket to the South, the party risks losing the 2027 election.

Tanko maintained that with Obi and former Kano State Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso on the same ticket, victory would be decisive and swift.
