Materials Needed:

  • Fresh, unwashed carrots
  • Paper towels
  • Large resealable plastic bags or airtight containers
  • A refrigerator with consistent temperature

Instructions:

  1. Start by selecting fresh, unwashed carrots from your local market or garden. Avoid carrots with soft spots or signs of decay, as they will not store well.
  2. Remove any excess dirt from the carrots by gently brushing them with a vegetable brush or wiping them with a damp cloth. Do not wash the carrots, as excess moisture can promote mold growth.
  3. Once the carrots are clean, lay them out on a layer of dry paper towels. Arrange the carrots in a single layer, making sure they are not touching each other. The paper towels will absorb excess moisture and help prevent mold formation.
  4. After laying out the carrots, carefully roll them up in the paper towels to create a tight bundle. Be sure to wrap the carrots securely to ensure they stay dry and protected.
  5. Place the wrapped carrots in large resealable plastic bags or airtight containers. Make sure the bags or containers are clean and dry before adding the carrots. Seal the bags or containers tightly to create a moisture-free environment.
  6. Store the carrots in the refrigerator crisper drawer or in a cool, dark place with consistent temperature. Avoid storing them near fruits that produce ethylene gas, such as apples and bananas, as this can cause the carrots to spoil faster.
  7. Check the carrots periodically for any signs of mold or decay. If you notice any moldy or soft spots, remove the affected carrots immediately to prevent the mold from spreading.

By following this clever storage trick, you can keep your carrots fresh and mold-free for up to six months, ensuring you always have a supply of crisp, delicious carrots on hand for all your culinary creations.

  • Bail Conditions: In April 2026, Justice Rilwan Aikawa granted El-Rufai bail for ₦200 million, requiring two sureties—a traditional ruler and a civil servant (serving or retired) on at least Grade Level 15. The court later rejected the former governor’s request to relax these strict requirements.
