A man tragically lost his life while attempting to rescue a group of children from the world’s second most poisonous snake.

Jeremy Brookes, aged 47, passed away on March 19 after rushing to the aid of a childcare center in Deeragun, Townsville, located in north Queensland, Australia. Brookes, who had been summoned to the premises by a relative, had no prior experience in handling such lethal serpents.

After sustaining three bites to his arm, Brookes decided to drive back to his home, where despite his wife’s efforts to bandage him up, he suffered a heart attack.

Efforts to revive him were made by his wife and subsequently by paramedics who transported him to Townsville University Hospital. Sadly, they were unable to save him.

Regarding Brookes’ wife’s attempts to save his life, Paula Marten, the acting director of the Townsville district for the Queensland Ambulance Service, stated: “She immediately immobilized the limb and applied compression bandages, and then the symptoms presented, and that’s when his wife contacted triple-0.”

Marten commended his wife’s efforts, stating: “If you’re not aware of snakes, then treat them all as if they are venomous — contact triple-0 and apply the basic first aid measures.”

Professional snake catcher Ben Avery cautioned that only trained catchers should approach such serpents.

“Just do not touch it, call a licensed professional snake catcher. Neurotoxic venom, they are going to start affecting your muscles, your heart, and every single organ,” he advised.

Brookes, survived by his wife, three children, and grandchildren, is the first person to succumb to a snake bite this year in Australia. His death has been referred to the coroner.

Ace Nigerian rapper, Olamide Gbenga Adedeji, popularly known as Olamide, has opened up about how traumatic past experiences have made him anxious about performing on stage.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

In an interview with YouTuber Korty EO, the award-winning rapper recalled unsettling incidents during live performances, including moments where fans rushed the stage and attempted to snatch items like his chain or hat.

He described the experiences as frightening, adding that they have continued to affect his confidence whenever he steps on stage.

“I get nervous every time I am going on the stage. I have had too many crazy experiences while performing. Someone from nowhere will just come and grab your chain or your hat, you don’t even know what to expect,” he said.

Meanwhile, Asake has reaffirmed that he still holds deep respect and loyalty for his former record label boss, Olamide, despite ongoing speculation about a fallout between them.

The singer addressed the rumours in the same interview with Korty EO, insisting there is no bad blood between them.

Speculation about a rift began in December 2024 after Asake removed YBNL from his Instagram bio and unfollowed Olamide, moves that fueled reports of a split.

He later went on to establish his own record label, Giran Republic, a decision that sparked widespread reactions and questions within the music industry about the status of their relationship.

Anthony Joshua Signs Deal To Fight Tyson Fury, Eddie Hearn Says.

Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has reportedly signed a deal to fight fellow former world champion Tyson Fury, according to promoter Eddie Hearn.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

News reports that Joshua will first make his return to the ring against Kristian Prenga in Riyadh on July 25, as he looks to rebuild his career following a difficult end to 2025.

The highly anticipated showdown between Joshua and Fury has been in the works for years, despite multiple failed negotiations. Both fighters are two-time heavyweight world champions and have dominated British boxing on the global stage for over a decade. On Monday, April 27, Hearn announced on social media that the long-awaited bout is now “signed, sealed and delivered.”

However, Joshua must first get past Prenga, an Albanian heavyweight with 20 wins—all by knockout—and one loss.

Joshua has not fought since his bout with Jake Paul in December. Later that month, he experienced personal tragedy in Nigeria when a vehicle carrying members of his team was involved in a crash that claimed two lives.

“It’s no secret I’ve taken some time to consolidate and rebuild to be ready for stepping back into the ring and today is the next step on that journey,” Joshua said.

While an official date and venue for the Joshua-Fury clash is yet to be confirmed, Hearn previously hinted the fight could take place in November on Netflix.

Joshua recently watched Fury’s comeback victory over Arslanbek Makhmudov, after which Fury called him out following a comfortable decision win. Fury’s attempt to draw Joshua into the ring was, however, turned down.

Fury’s camp later insisted they had already signed their part of the agreement and were awaiting Joshua’s signature.

Expressing his readiness to return, Joshua said, “I’m looking forward to competing and picking up where I left off. As I said, the landlord will collect his rent. That is certain.”

In response, the actress fired back, “Are you insane? Did you just call my name? How dare you call me by my name?”

He immediately clarified, saying, “No, no, I didn’t say that. I said ‘Aunty Wumi, how are you?’”

Following the incident, Wumi also addressed comments about her age on her Instagram story. She noted that her youthful appearance often leads to misconceptions, adding that she completed secondary school in 2003 and urged critics to do the math to better understand her age.
