“Total Lockdown: Police Declare Curfew, Banning Amotekun And All Vigilante Groups In Osun!”.
The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has reaffirmed its ban on the operations of the Amotekun Corps and other non-state security groups throughout the duration of the Osun State Governorship Election.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
According to reports, the police also reiterated a statewide restriction on movement, which began at midnight on Friday, August 14, 2026, and will remain in effect until 6 pm on Saturday, August 15, 2026.
These measures were implemented by the force to guarantee a peaceful and orderly electoral process. Anietie Iniedu, the Public Relations Officer for the Force Headquarters in Abuja, announced this in a statement released prior to the election.
The police emphasized that only security agencies officially recognized and established by the Constitution and laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria are authorized to operate during the election. Non-state security groups, vigilante organizations, and other unauthorized bodies are directed to suspend their activities and will resume operations only after the election concludes.
The statement explicitly directed such groups to “stay away from election-related security operations and refrain from any activity capable of intimidating voters, disrupting the electoral process or undermining public peace and security.”
The force has urged members of the public to comply with the movement restriction and to cooperate with security personnel deployed across the state. During the restriction period, only individuals and categories of movement specifically exempted by appropriate authorities will be permitted to move.
Additionally, the police admonished members of political parties, governorship candidates, and their supporters to maintain peace during the election, warning that any actions intended to disrupt the electoral process will not be tolerated.

“Your Uncle Is The Real ‘Arindin’!” Sowore Blasts Davido In Epic Social Media War.
Omoyele Sowore, the 2027 presidential candidate for the African Action Congress (AAC), has fired back at Nigerian music star David Adeleke, widely known as Davido, after the singer called him an ‘arindin’ on social media. The term ‘arindin’ is a Yoruba word generally used to describe a senseless or foolish person.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
The social media exchange began after Sowore characterized Davido’s uncle, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, as having “nothing upstairs.” In retaliation, Davido labelled Sowore an ‘arindin’.
Sowore responded on X (formerly Twitter), redirecting the insult back to Governor Adeleke. He criticized the governor’s educational background, noting that Adeleke obtained a high school equivalency credential (GED equivalent) only after previously serving as a Nigerian senator. Sowore further alleged that Adeleke’s support for President Bola Tinubu during the 2023 election was a strategic move to safeguard the Adeleke family’s political and business interests in Osun State.
In his post, Sowore stated: “The real arindin is your uncle, @AAdeleke_01, who had to go back and obtain the equivalent of a GED after he had already served as a Nigerian Senator. The real arindin is your uncle who chose @officialABAT as his presidential candidate, apparently hoping that imbecilic political loyalty would allow your family to continue treating Osun State as a private estate to finance your extravagant lifestyle.”
In a separate development on Thursday, Sowore appeared on News Central TV’s breakfast show and made further allegations regarding Governor Adeleke’s leadership. He claimed that the governor is not in full control of his administration and that major state decisions are being dictated by his family members. Specifically, Sowore accused the governor’s sister and his elder brother, Adedeji Adeleke (Davido’s father), of wielding significant influence over state affairs.
“What I saw in Adeleke’s leadership is that the guy is not even in control of his government,” Sowore asserted.

“Heavy Security Presence Reported At Osun Speaker’s Residence Amidst Election”.
The Imole Campaign Council (TICC) has expressed grave concern over the heavy deployment of armed security personnel to the home of the Osun State House of Assembly Speaker, Rt. Hon. Adewale Egbedun, early this morning.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
In a statement released by TICC Spokesperson Pelumi Olajengbesi, the council alleged that a security convoy consisting of over 10 black Hilux vehicles arrived at the Speaker’s residence and proceeded to surround the premises.
According to the campaign council, the operatives have effectively sealed off the house, preventing anyone inside from leaving.
“We have received reports that the residence of the Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adewale Egbedun, has been surrounded by armed security personnel who reportedly arrived in more than 10 black Hilux vehicles,” TICC stated. “We have also been informed that the residence has effectively been sealed off, with everyone inside reportedly prevented from leaving the premises.“
The TICC emphasized that it has not yet independently verified the motive for the deployment, acknowledging it remains unclear if the operatives are there for protective security or for other official duties.
The campaign council for Governor Ademola Adeleke has called upon the relevant security agencies to provide an immediate explanation for the deployment and to clarify reports regarding the restriction of movement in and out of the Speaker’s home.
TICC reported that it attempted to contact several high-ranking officials, including the Commissioner of Police and the Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of the election, as well as the Police Situation Room, but all calls went unanswered or the line was switched off.
The council added: “On this Election Day, the people of Osun State deserve an atmosphere free from fear and intimidation. Security deployments must inspire confidence and protect the integrity of the electoral process.”
While urging for an immediate clarification from authorities, the council stressed that “the people of Osun State must be allowed to come out peacefully and decide their future according to their own conscience, without intimidation or interference.“
