The witness underwent cross-examination on Wednesday by the defense counsel during the inquest. The musician, Mohbad, passed away on September 12, 2023, and was laid to rest the following day at the age of 27. His demise sparked controversies, leading the Lagos State Government to initiate a coroner’s inquest into the circumstances of his death.

The inquest, which commenced on October 13, 2023, is being conducted at the Ikorodu Magistrates’ Court. Somiari informed the Coroner, Magistrate Adedayo Shotobi, stating, “We anticipate receiving the initial autopsy results within three to four weeks and will verify them to ascertain the cause of death.”

He further explained, “We explored various possibilities to investigate if poisoning contributed to Mohbad’s death since no specific cause was identified.” The forensic expert assured the public of stringent security measures and proper monitoring of samples used in the autopsy process.

“We have established secure storage facilities for items and results. There are protocols in place for overseeing the transportation of samples overseas,” he added.

Additionally, Mr. Sadiq Ayobami, known as Spendy, testified that he last saw the deceased a day before his demise. He recounted attending a concert in Ikorodu with Mohbad and returning to his residence before leaving prior to the singer’s death.

Mrs. Abiodun Kolawole, representing the African Women Lawyers Association, urged the deceased’s parents to pursue their grievances regarding the paternity of the singer’s child through legal channels rather than resorting to social media.

Magistrate T. A. Shotobi adjourned the case until April 15, instructing all parties involved in the inquest to be present on that day.

Speaking to The Independent, Usyk praised Joshua’s commitment in camp, describing him as highly focused and determined.

He also called for continued support for Joshua during a difficult phase in his career, urging fans not to turn against fighters during setbacks, but to stand by them as part of the sport.

Usyk acknowledged that Joshua is nearing a full return but stressed the need for patience as he continues recovery.
