During a plenary session, Akpabio suggested that mercenaries, not indigenous to the Niger Delta region, were responsible for the heinous act.
In a subsequent interview on Arise Television’s News programme, Clark expressed skepticism towards Akpabio’s assertion. He emphasized the need to investigate community leaders involved in the incident, emphasizing that no individual should be considered immune from scrutiny.
Clark advocated for collaborative efforts between the military and community leaders to apprehend the perpetrators, highlighting the importance of accountability and transparency in resolving such grave matters.
He emphasized, “Let’s look at ourselves… Nobody should be treated as a sacred cow.” Clark underscored the necessity of collective action to prevent the escalation of tensions and conflicts between communities.
As an Ijaw leader, Clark reaffirmed his commitment to preventing intercommunal strife and urged for a thorough investigation to uncover the truth behind the soldiers’ killings in Delta State.
