Sunday Oliseh Warns Of Super Eagles’ Perilous Situation, Calls For Action....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Former Super Eagles coach, Sunday Oliseh, has sounded the alarm, predicting a potential downfall for the national team if decisive measures are not implemented. Oliseh, who previously helmed the Super Eagles from July 2015 to February 2016, expressed concern over the team’s trajectory following recent setbacks and managerial changes……..CONTINUE READING
Oliseh’s tenure began after the Eagles’ failure to qualify for the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). This disappointment came just two years after the team’s triumphant victory in the 2013 AFCON under the late Stephen Keshi. Reflecting on the team’s history, Oliseh highlighted a pattern of inconsistency and decline, citing instances where the team failed to qualify for major tournaments.
The Super Eagles, once renowned for their success, experienced a resurgence under Keshi’s leadership but subsequently faced challenges in maintaining their momentum. Despite notable achievements in earlier editions, including bronze medals in consecutive tournaments and a memorable run to the 2023 AFCON final, Oliseh emphasized the need for sustained excellence.
With the national team currently without a permanent coach, following the non-renewal of Jose Peseiro’s contract, Oliseh expressed his interest in the position. He urged stakeholders in Nigerian football to address systemic issues and prevent another decline in the team’s performance.
“We are at a dangerous point as a football country,” Oliseh warned, highlighting the importance of maintaining the team’s relevance and competitiveness on the international stage. He emphasized the need for collective action to safeguard the Super Eagles from potential setbacks and ensure their continued success.
Oliseh’s remarks underscore the significance of strategic planning, effective leadership, and investment in Nigerian football to overcome challenges and propel the Super Eagles to greater heights in the future.
