Confirming the abduction, the Sokoto State Police Command revealed that suspected bandits invaded the Gada Local Government Area, targeting the school students and a resident of the community. Efforts are underway by security forces to rescue the abducted students and ensure their safe return.
The proprietor of the school, Mallam Liman Abubakar, expressed dismay over the attack, stating that this was the first time the village had been targeted in such a manner. Residents recounted the harrowing experience of the invasion, which resulted in the loss of one life and the abduction of innocent students.
In response to the escalating crisis, the Federal Government has strongly condemned the abductions in Sokoto and other parts of the country. President Bola Tinubu has directed security agencies to intensify efforts to secure the immediate release of all abducted individuals. The government reaffirmed its commitment to protecting the lives of citizens and urged collective action in combating terrorism and banditry.
Vice-President Senator Kashim Shettima, representing President Tinubu, visited Kaduna State to offer support and solidarity to the affected community. He emphasized the government’s determination to rescue the abducted schoolchildren and restore peace and security to the region.
Additionally, the Kaduna State Government clarified that it has not engaged private negotiators for the release of the kidnapped children, reaffirming its policy of non-negotiation with criminals. The government urged the media to exercise caution in reporting on security matters to avoid jeopardizing ongoing rescue efforts.
In Sokoto, Governor Ahmed Sokoto unveiled the Sokoto State Community Guards Corps, emphasizing the importance of community involvement in enhancing security. The initiative aims to complement existing security measures and safeguard communities from threats posed by criminal elements.
As the nation grapples with the scourge of banditry and terrorism, governors across the North-West region have pledged solidarity and collaboration in tackling insecurity. They underscored the need for concerted efforts to restore peace and stability to the region, emphasizing that political differences must not hinder collective action against common threats.
The recent abductions underscore the urgent need for decisive measures to address the root causes of insecurity and ensure the safety and well-being of all citizens. The government, security agencies, and communities must work together to confront this challenge and restore peace to the affected areas.

-
Economic and Social Impact: NCC Director-General, Dr. John Asein, emphasized that organized piracy is a major criminal enterprise that undermines Nigeria’s creative economy, destroys jobs, and weakens national security.
-
Intersecting Supply Chains: Both agencies identified that the same clandestine networks, transportation routes, and financial channels used for drug trafficking are frequently utilized to distribute pirated goods and launder criminal proceeds.
-
Inter-Agency Synergy: The leadership of both organizations highlighted the importance of moving away from isolated operations toward a collaborative model that leverages the specific expertise and intelligence capabilities of each agency.
The initiative aims to more effectively disrupt illegal supply chains, dismantle criminal structures, and protect both the creative sector and the general public from the influence of organized crime.
