Investigations revealed that Goodluck had been staying with a relative in Abakaliki but had run away with the intention of returning to his parents, who reside at Peter Okonkwo Street, Aguleri, Anambra East LGA, Anambra State.

The Public Relations Officer of NSCDC, Anambra State Command, SC Edwin Okadigbo, disclosed that the Ebonyi State Command had contacted them to trace the origin and parents of the child. In response, the Anambra State Command worked diligently to locate Goodluck’s parents for identification and reunification. After a thorough verification process, the boy was successfully handed over to his father, Mr. Onwe Sabastine.

In the midst of this heartening reunion, the Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Anambra State Command, Comdt Olatunde Maku, offered words of wisdom to parents and guardians. He emphasized the importance of disciplining children with love and understanding, rather than relying on fear and authority.

Maku stated, “Parenting is not an easy job… Parents should adapt the parenting of a child with love and understanding, without unnecessary display of authority over their children which instills fear in them to always run away from home.”

This story serves as a reminder of the power of compassion and the importance of nurturing relationships within families.
