- Traditional Method:
- Collect dried plantain skins, cocoa pods, palm leaves, and shea tree bark.
- Burn these ingredients to create ash, which is rich in potassium hydroxide.
- Mix the ash with water to create a lye solution.
- Heat palm kernel oil and shea butter in a pot.
- Gradually add the lye solution to the oil mixture while stirring.
- Cook the mixture until it thickens and reaches trace.
- Let it cool, then mold it into bars for curing.
- Cold Process Method:
- Measure palm kernel oil, shea butter, cocoa butter, and coconut oil.
- Heat the oils in a double boiler until melted.
- Mix lye crystals with water in a separate container.
- Gradually add the lye solution to the melted oils while stirring.
- Blend the mixture until it reaches trace.
- Add any desired essential oils or herbs.
- Pour the soap into molds and let it cure for several weeks.
- Hot Process Method:
- Follow the same steps as the cold process method but cook the mixture in a crockpot or on the stove.
- Cook the soap until it reaches the gel phase.
- Stir the soap continuously until it thickens and reaches a mashed potato-like consistency.
- Add any desired essential oils or herbs.
- Spoon the soap into molds and let it cool and harden.
- Melt and Pour Method:
- Purchase a pre-made African black soap base.
- Cut the base into smaller pieces and melt it in a double boiler or microwave.
- Add shea butter, cocoa butter, or additional oils for extra moisturizing properties.
- Pour the melted soap into molds.
- Let it cool and harden before removing it from the molds.
- Liquid African Black Soap Method:
- Grate or chop a bar of African black soap into small pieces.
- Boil distilled water and pour it over the soap pieces.
- Let the soap dissolve in the water, stirring occasionally.
- Once dissolved, let the liquid soap cool.
- Add essential oils or herbal infusions for fragrance and additional benefits.
- Pour the liquid soap into bottles for use as a body wash, shampoo, or facial cleanser.

Oshiomhole, who also served as the former President of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), praised Wike for his developmental efforts and expressed gratitude to the PDP for allowing him to serve as Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) under the APC government.
Wike, previously a staunch PDP member, supported APC’s Bola Tinubu during the 2023 presidential election after a fallout with his party. As a reward for his support, Wike was appointed FCT Minister.
Oshiomhole compared the situation to a football club letting its “best player” join a rival team. “Thank you, PDP, for giving us Nyesom Wike to help us fix Abuja,” he said. “When you give your best player to another club, you pay a heavy price.”
The lawmaker representing Edo North also joked about the PDP’s decision, saying they didn’t ask for a transfer fee and hinted that the APC might not want to return Wike, even joking about setting up a toll gate to prevent it.
At a New Year luncheon in Port Harcourt, Oshiomhole praised Wike for his contributions to Abuja, highlighting his commitment to the rule of law and environmental regulations.

The operation was carried out in partnership with the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) as part of a major counter-terrorism effort. Lieutenant Colonel Olaniyi Osoba, Chief Military Information Officer of MNJTF, confirmed the interception on Thursday. The suspect, identified as 28-year-old Mr. Murktar Alhaji Chari, admitted to transporting the materials to Damasak town in Mobbar Local Government Area for an attack targeting MNJTF troops. The seized items included four empty 12kg cylinders, one 6kg cylinder, two carburettor gas canisters, two pressure regulators, and a hose. Intelligence suggests the materials were intended for terrorists planning a retaliatory strike after recent losses, including the death of several militants and the capture of significant weapons. The suspect is currently in custody and cooperating with ongoing investigations. According to reports, the ruling party’s candidate, Mahamudu Bawumia, conceded defeat to former President Mahama after the December 7 election.
