In a heartfelt post on his official X account, Saraki, who served as the head of the 8th Senate, praised Obasanjo’s leadership, citing his personal experience working closely with the ex-president.

Saraki reminisced about his time as Obasanjo’s Special Assistant on Budgetary Matters, noting that witnessing Obasanjo’s leadership firsthand had not only influenced his own approach but had also provided a valuable blueprint for many others.

Expressing his sincere wishes, Saraki extended heartfelt birthday greetings to Obasanjo on behalf of himself and his entire family, wishing the former president continued success in his legacy of leadership and service.

Obasanjo Urges Consultation with Zimbabwe on Inflation

Meanwhile, former President Olusegun Obasanjo has advised the Nigerian government, led by President Bola Tinubu, to seek solutions to the country’s inflation challenges by consulting with the government of Zimbabwe.

Obasanjo made the recommendation while speaking at a youth leadership symposium organized by the Centre for Human Security and Dialogue in collaboration with the Institute for African Culture and International Understanding, held at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library to mark his 87th birthday.

Addressing the theme “Opportunities for Peace: Roles of the Youths in Conflict Prevention in Africa,” Obasanjo emphasized Nigeria’s need to learn from Zimbabwe’s experience, especially in light of the alarming 29.9% inflation rate reported by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).

Obasanjo’s remarks underscore the importance of seeking innovative solutions to economic challenges and learning from the experiences of other nations to address pressing issues such as inflation.
