Inojie emphasized that Mr Ibu’s unique talent and comedic genius made him an indispensable figure in Nollywood. He asserted that merely casting Mr Ibu in a movie guaranteed its success, underlining the actor’s unparalleled ability to captivate audiences with his expressions and gestures.
During an interview with Channels TV, Inojie remarked, “Losing someone in the industry often prompts speculation about who might fill the void. However, Mr Ibu’s absence leaves an immeasurable gap. His comedic prowess was unparalleled.”
He continued, “John [Okafor] possessed a rare gift – the ability to convey a myriad of emotions without uttering a single word. His mere presence in a film ensured its success.”
The passing of Mr Ibu, who succumbed to cardiac arrest at the age of 62, has left a profound void in Nollywood, with colleagues and fans mourning the loss of an iconic figure.

When the appointment was first announced, Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, highlighted Aina’s deep background in digital infrastructure, public-sector reforms, and national examination systems, noting his historic milestone as one of Nigeria’s youngest computer engineering professors.
In his inaugural address, Aina acknowledged the foundation laid by his predecessor—who is widely credited with modernizing the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME)—and vowed to expand on those achievements. Emphasizing a strong stance against malpractice, he warned wrongdoers that their illicit activities have no place at JAMB, promising to ramp up modern technological investments and deepen partnerships with security agencies to safeguard the integrity of the admissions process.
