In a statement issued by the spokesman of the Gbenga Edema Campaign Organisation on Sunday, Edema raised concerns over a police report implicating Governor Aiyedatiwa of forging a West Africa School Certificate Examination (WASCE) document.
However, Mr. Yomi, the Special Assistant to the Governor on Digital Media, swiftly dismissed the allegation, labeling it as a ploy to undermine the credibility and political standing of the governor ahead of the forthcoming gubernatorial election in the state.
The statement from the Gbenga Edema Campaign Organisation highlighted, “The attention of the Gbenga Edema Campaign Organisation has been drawn to a viral police report alleging that the WASCE certificate submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission in 2020 by Governor Lucky Ayedatiwa might have been forged.”
“It is imperative that Governor Ayedatiwa responds to these weighty allegations,” the statement continued, emphasizing the need for the governor to provide credible evidence to counter the accusations.
Meanwhile, Governor Aiyedatiwa’s aide, Mr. Oyekan, asserted, “The investigative findings have confirmed Governor Aiyedatiwa’s successful completion of his WAEC (GCE) O/Level examination at Ikosi Ketu, Lagos, supported by tangible evidence.”
Amidst the ongoing scrutiny, Aiyedatiwa’s team maintained that the governor’s track record and integrity remain unblemished, positioning him as the primary candidate for the upcoming elections.
