The state Commissioner of Police, A. T. Abdullahi, revealed this development in a statement to journalists. According to the statement, Ibrahim stands accused of contaminating a drink and meat with poison, with the target being his 35-year-old wife, Zakiya Uzairu, in a bid to acquire her wealth.
Upon receiving the report, detectives from the Sule Tankarkar Division promptly apprehended the suspect at the scene, as mentioned by the police boss.
The suspect was then taken to the Divisional Police office in Sule Tankarkar for questioning and subsequently transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Dutse for further probe.
“During the interrogation, the suspect willingly confessed to the crime, confirming the accuracy of the information provided to the police. He admitted to intending to kill his wife to gain possession of her livestock, which included goats, sheep, and cows. He said the wife narrowly escaped after she perceived the poison and presumed his plan,” the police reported.

Initially approved by President Bola Tinubu on May 21 when Aina was 39, this appointment marks him as the youngest individual ever to lead the examination body.
When the appointment was first announced, Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, highlighted Aina’s deep background in digital infrastructure, public-sector reforms, and national examination systems, noting his historic milestone as one of Nigeria’s youngest computer engineering professors.
In his inaugural address, Aina acknowledged the foundation laid by his predecessor—who is widely credited with modernizing the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME)—and vowed to expand on those achievements. Emphasizing a strong stance against malpractice, he warned wrongdoers that their illicit activities have no place at JAMB, promising to ramp up modern technological investments and deepen partnerships with security agencies to safeguard the integrity of the admissions process.
