Babatunde Irukera, the former Chief Executive of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC), has responded to assertions regarding his silence following his removal from office by President Bola Tinubu. Irukera emphasized that his silence should not be interpreted as weakness…….CONTINUE READING
This statement comes in the wake of Irukera’s dismissal by Tinubu, which was recently approved by the Senate. Tinubu had cited inefficiency as the basis for requesting Irukera’s removal, highlighting the need to restructure and enhance the effectiveness of critical government agencies.
In response to a demand from an individual identified as @MalachyOdo1, urging Irukera to speak up about the circumstances surrounding his removal, Irukera maintained that he would address the matter at the appropriate time.
He stated, “In due course. Silence is discipline, not weakness.”
It is worth noting that Irukera was initially relieved of his duties by Tinubu in January, along with the Director-General/CEO of the Bureau of Public Enterprises, Alexander Okoh. However, the Presidency clarified that they were not sacked but rather relieved of their duties, with the process of finding their successors underway.
Irukera’s response underscores his intention to address the situation at the right moment, indicating a disciplined approach rather than acquiescence to perceived injustice.
