The decision to implement the Oronsaye report was made during the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting chaired by President Tinubu on Monday.

The Orosanya report, among its recommendations, proposed discontinuing government funding of professional bodies and councils to allocate funds for capital projects. It identified 541 Federal Government parastatals, commissions, and agencies and suggested reducing 263 statutory agencies to 161, abolishing 38 agencies, merging 52, and reverting 14 agencies to departments in ministries for a leaner government.

Speaking with TheCable, Adegboruwa emphasized the need for urgent action to curtail wastage within the bureaucracy, particularly in light of technological advancements.

While commending the President for his decision to implement the Oronsaye report, Adegboruwa highlighted the importance of starting the implementation from the presidency itself. He expressed concern over the unwieldy size of the current cabinet, suggesting that merging ministries with little impact would set a positive example.

Adegboruwa stressed the significance of setting a precedent by reducing the cabinet size, stating that beginning the implementation elsewhere while leaving the presidency untouched would undermine the desired purpose of cost reduction and efficiency improvement.

The call by Adegboruwa underscores the importance of effective governance and prudent resource management in achieving national development goals.
