Here’s a simple method to remove rust from your stove:
Materials Needed:
- White vinegar
- Baking soda
- Lemon juice or vinegar (optional)
- Cloth or sponge
- Steel wool or scrubbing pad (fine grade)
- Protective gloves
Instructions:
- Prepare the Area: Ensure the stove is turned off and cool before starting the cleaning process. Remove any grates or removable parts from the stove and set them aside.
- Apply White Vinegar: Pour some white vinegar directly onto the rusted areas of the stove. White vinegar is acidic and helps to dissolve rust. Let the vinegar sit on the rusted spots for about 10-15 minutes to penetrate and loosen the rust.
- Scrub with Baking Soda Paste: In a small bowl, mix baking soda with a small amount of water to create a thick paste. Apply the baking soda paste to the rusted areas of the stove using a cloth or sponge. Use circular motions to scrub the rusted spots gently.
- Scrub with Steel Wool: If the rust stains are stubborn, you can use steel wool or a scrubbing pad to gently scrub the affected areas. Be careful not to scratch the surface of the stove. Use a fine-grade steel wool to avoid damage.
- Rinse and Repeat: Once you’ve scrubbed away the rust, rinse the area thoroughly with water to remove any remaining vinegar or baking soda residue. You can also wipe down the stove with a damp cloth to ensure all residue is removed. If necessary, repeat the process until the rust is completely removed.
- Optional: Apply Lemon Juice or Vinegar: If there are any remaining rust stains, you can apply lemon juice or vinegar directly to the spots and let it sit for a few minutes before scrubbing again.
- Dry and Reassemble: Once the rust is removed, dry the stove thoroughly with a clean towel. Reassemble any removable parts that were taken off earlier.
- Prevent Future Rust: To prevent rust from forming again, ensure the stove is kept clean and dry. Wipe up spills and splatters promptly, and consider applying a thin coat of cooking oil to the stove’s surface to protect against moisture.
By following these steps, you can effectively remove rust from your stove and keep it looking clean and rust-free.

Oshiomhole, who also served as the former President of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), praised Wike for his developmental efforts and expressed gratitude to the PDP for allowing him to serve as Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) under the APC government.
Wike, previously a staunch PDP member, supported APC’s Bola Tinubu during the 2023 presidential election after a fallout with his party. As a reward for his support, Wike was appointed FCT Minister.
Oshiomhole compared the situation to a football club letting its “best player” join a rival team. “Thank you, PDP, for giving us Nyesom Wike to help us fix Abuja,” he said. “When you give your best player to another club, you pay a heavy price.”
The lawmaker representing Edo North also joked about the PDP’s decision, saying they didn’t ask for a transfer fee and hinted that the APC might not want to return Wike, even joking about setting up a toll gate to prevent it.
At a New Year luncheon in Port Harcourt, Oshiomhole praised Wike for his contributions to Abuja, highlighting his commitment to the rule of law and environmental regulations.

The operation was carried out in partnership with the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) as part of a major counter-terrorism effort. Lieutenant Colonel Olaniyi Osoba, Chief Military Information Officer of MNJTF, confirmed the interception on Thursday. The suspect, identified as 28-year-old Mr. Murktar Alhaji Chari, admitted to transporting the materials to Damasak town in Mobbar Local Government Area for an attack targeting MNJTF troops. The seized items included four empty 12kg cylinders, one 6kg cylinder, two carburettor gas canisters, two pressure regulators, and a hose. Intelligence suggests the materials were intended for terrorists planning a retaliatory strike after recent losses, including the death of several militants and the capture of significant weapons. The suspect is currently in custody and cooperating with ongoing investigations. According to reports, the ruling party’s candidate, Mahamudu Bawumia, conceded defeat to former President Mahama after the December 7 election.
