Bleaching hair at home can be a cost-effective way to achieve a lighter hair color, but it’s essential to approach it with caution to avoid damaging your hair….READ ALSO

Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to bleach your hair at home safely:

  1. Gather Your Supplies: You’ll need a bleaching kit, which typically includes bleach powder, developer, gloves, a mixing bowl, an applicator brush, and instructions. You’ll also need old towels or capes to protect surfaces and clothing, as well as petroleum jelly to protect your skin.
  2. Perform a Strand Test: Before bleaching your entire head, it’s wise to perform a strand test to assess how your hair will react to the bleach. Choose a small section of hair, preferably from underneath, and apply a small amount of bleach mixture. Follow the instructions and observe the results to determine the processing time needed for your hair.
  3. Prepare Your Workspace: Select a well-ventilated area with good lighting for your bleaching process. Cover surfaces with old towels or newspaper to prevent stains. Wear old clothing that you don’t mind getting bleach on.
  4. Protect Your Skin: Apply a thin layer of petroleum jelly along your hairline, ears, and neck to prevent the bleach from coming into contact with your skin. Put on gloves to protect your hands from irritation.
  5. Mix the Bleach: Follow the instructions provided in your bleaching kit to mix the bleach powder and developer in the mixing bowl. Stir the mixture thoroughly until it reaches a smooth consistency.
  6. Section Your Hair: Divide your hair into four sections using hair clips: down the middle from the forehead to the nape of the neck, and then from ear to ear. This will help ensure even application of the bleach.
  7. Apply the Bleach: Starting from the back sections and working your way forward, use the applicator brush to apply the bleach mixture to small sections of hair, beginning at least half an inch away from the roots. Ensure that each strand is evenly saturated with bleach.
  8. Process the Bleach: Once all sections of hair are covered, leave the bleach on for the recommended processing time. Check your hair’s progress periodically to monitor how light it’s becoming. Avoid exceeding the maximum processing time to prevent over-bleaching and potential damage.
  9. Rinse and Shampoo: After the desired lightness is achieved, rinse your hair thoroughly with lukewarm water to remove the bleach. Follow up with a gentle shampoo specifically formulated for color-treated hair to cleanse your scalp and remove any remaining bleach residue.
  10. Condition Your Hair: Apply a deep conditioning treatment or hair mask to replenish moisture and nourishment to your hair. Leave the conditioner on for the recommended time before rinsing it out with cool water to seal the hair cuticle and lock in moisture.
  11. Style and Maintain: Once your hair is clean and conditioned, you can style it as desired. Avoid using heat styling tools excessively and opt for air-drying whenever possible to minimize damage. Additionally, use hair care products designed for color-treated hair to maintain your new hue and keep it looking vibrant.
  12. Follow Up with Care: After bleaching your hair, it’s crucial to provide it with extra care and attention to keep it healthy. Consider using leave-in conditioners, hair oils, and weekly hair masks to nourish and repair your strands.

By following these steps carefully and taking proper precautions, you can bleach your hair at home effectively while minimizing the risk of damage. However, if you’re uncertain or have concerns about bleaching your hair yourself, it’s always a good idea to consult a professional hairstylist for guidance.

Oshiomhole, who also served as the former President of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), praised Wike for his developmental efforts and expressed gratitude to the PDP for allowing him to serve as Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) under the APC government.

Wike, previously a staunch PDP member, supported APC’s Bola Tinubu during the 2023 presidential election after a fallout with his party. As a reward for his support, Wike was appointed FCT Minister.

Oshiomhole compared the situation to a football club letting its “best player” join a rival team. “Thank you, PDP, for giving us Nyesom Wike to help us fix Abuja,” he said. “When you give your best player to another club, you pay a heavy price.”

The lawmaker representing Edo North also joked about the PDP’s decision, saying they didn’t ask for a transfer fee and hinted that the APC might not want to return Wike, even joking about setting up a toll gate to prevent it.

At a New Year luncheon in Port Harcourt, Oshiomhole praised Wike for his contributions to Abuja, highlighting his commitment to the rule of law and environmental regulations.
