Shared by a friend and cousin of the deceased, identified as Okunola Segun, the photo serves as a solemn reminder of the untimely demise of Olawuyi, eliciting deep sadness and shock from those who knew him.
Expressing his grief, Segun described Olawuyi as a devoted family man and a cherished friend from childhood, emphasizing the unexpected and tragic nature of his passing. He fondly remembered Olawuyi’s commitment to his faith and loyalty to his loved ones, emphasizing the profound impact he had on those around him.
The Public Relations Officer of the university, Abiodun Olarewaju, had earlier confirmed the incident, stating that despite the efforts of other staff members to rescue Olawuyi, the lion had inflicted fatal injuries before they could intervene.
In light of the tragic event, the university management has initiated a thorough investigation to determine both the immediate and underlying factors contributing to the incident, while extending heartfelt condolences to Olawuyi’s family and loved ones.
