Mathias Adure, the younger brother of the deceased, expressed profound grief while speaking to journalists over the phone, lamenting the heartbreaking turn of events.

Daily Trust reported that Adure revealed Aondona had completed his work and was in the process of crossing the road when the tragic accident occurred. Aondona, aged in his 50s, leaves behind his wife but did not have any children.

Following the incident, the woman responsible for the accident promptly sought assistance from nearby police officers on duty, who have taken custody of the vehicle involved.

Expressing his sorrow, Mathias Adure stated, “It’s a black day for me. As I speak, my mother is in the mortuary in Benue. Now, my elder brother has joined her. It’s actually a trying time for me. What is more painful is that he died without having a child. One of his colleagues in the same company who also left the office saw a crowd around the Eagle Square and decided to take a walk; on reaching there, it was my brother that he saw.”

Additionally, the Ukum Family Association in Abuja, through a statement signed by Gabriel Akiirga, confirmed the unfortunate incident, extending prayers for the deceased’s eternal rest and strength for his grieving family.

The body of the deceased has been deposited at the Asokoro General Hospital.
