CD Tenerife striker Jesus de Miguel has died at the age of 30 after sustaining serious head and chest injuries during a Spanish second-division match against FC Andorra on Monday.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The forward suffered the injuries following a collision with Andorra goalkeeper Jesus Owono in the closing moments of the encounter at the Estadio Heliodoro Rodriguez Lopez in Tenerife.

The incident happened seven minutes into stoppage time, with both teams level at 2-2. Owono had rushed towards the centre circle in an attempt to intercept a long ball when he collided with De Miguel, striking the striker with his knee.

De Miguel remained motionless on the pitch as medical personnel immediately rushed to attend to him. He was later taken to hospital by ambulance.

The referee subsequently showed Owono a straight red card before abandoning the match.

Although De Miguel’s condition was initially described as stable but serious on Monday, his health reportedly deteriorated on Tuesday morning. He died at 07:00 GMT, according to reports.

Spanish media outlet Marca reported that the striker suffered a cardiac arrest while being transported to the hospital. Paramedics reportedly managed to resuscitate him before he arrived at the medical facility.

Tenerife confirmed his death in an emotional statement, expressing shock and deep sadness over the loss.

“Heartbroken, with a lump in our throats and unable to believe this is true, CD Tenerife announces the tragic death of Jesus de Miguel Alameda,” the club said.

“There are no words of comfort; there is absolutely nothing that can lessen this overwhelming sadness. We stand with his grieving family, with his loved ones, with all of Tenerife who mourn this cruel loss today.”

The club added that De Miguel’s family appreciated the messages of support they had received and appealed for privacy as they mourned their loss.

FC Andorra also expressed condolences to his family, teammates and Tenerife, while former Barcelona defender and club co-owner Gerard Pique paid tribute to the late striker.

“I am sorry with all my soul. Rest in peace, Jesus,” Pique wrote.

De Miguel’s former club, Castellon, also mourned his death, describing the loss as deeply unfair.

La Liga president Javier Tebas joined the tributes, saying: “Today, we all share the terrible pain of an irreparable loss. My deepest condolences to his family, loved ones, teammates and the whole club.”

Real Madrid and France forward Kylian Mbappe also paid his respects on social media, writing: “Much sadness; there are no words.”

Breaking: West Ham Sack Nuno Espirito Santo, Move Quickly For Scott Parker.

Published

on

West Ham United have dismissed head coach Nuno Espirito Santo following a disappointing start to their Championship campaign, with the club reportedly holding advanced talks with former England international Scott Parker over the vacant managerial position.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The 52-year-old Portuguese tactician leaves the London club after just over a year in charge, having failed to prevent their relegation from the Premier League last season.

According to BBC Sport, Parker has emerged as the leading candidate to replace Nuno.

Parker has previously managed Burnley, Bournemouth and Fulham, guiding both Bournemouth and Burnley to promotion from the Championship.

West Ham’s decision comes after a poor run of results that has seen the club slip to eighth position on the table, six points behind league leaders Middlesbrough.

The Hammers have managed just two victories in their last six league matches, including successive home defeats to Southampton and West Bromwich Albion.

They suffered a 3-2 loss to Southampton before falling 3-1 to West Brom on Saturday, a result that ended their spell in second place.

Nuno’s departure also marks the exit of assistant head coach Rui Pedro Silva and goalkeeping coach Rui Barbosa.

Meanwhile, Mark Noble, Steve Potts and Gerard Prenderville will take temporary charge of the team ahead of their trip to Cardiff City on Wednesday.

In a statement, West Ham said the decision followed a review of the team’s performances at the beginning of the season.

“Following a thorough review of the start to the EFL Championship season, the board of directors believe that a change is necessary at this time to ensure that the club’s objectives and expectations remain on track,” the statement read.

The club added that the process of recruiting a new head coach was already underway and expressed appreciation to Nuno and his assistants for their contributions.

Nuno becomes the third permanent manager to leave West Ham since David Moyes departed in May 2024.

Julen Lopetegui took over from Moyes but spent only six months in the role, winning six of his 20 Premier League matches before being dismissed.

Graham Potter succeeded him but lasted just eight months before leaving the club with West Ham sitting 19th in the table.

The Hammers retained Nuno despite their difficulties, but he was unable to prevent relegation last season as the club finished two points behind Tottenham Hotspur.

West Ham initially struggled following their drop into the Championship, failing to win any of their opening three matches and falling to 19th position.

However, four consecutive victories in September, during which they scored 16 goals, lifted them to the top of the table. The impressive run included a 6-0 victory over Wrexham.

Since then, the club has struggled to maintain consistency, recording only two league wins against nine-man Lincoln City and Swansea City, alongside draws with Millwall and Queens Park Rangers.
