In the aftermath of the intense 2023 Africa Nations Cup, where the Eagles secured a hard-fought silver medal, President Tinubu’s love for the team took center stage. With the finesse of a cupid wielding his arrows, Tinubu awarded each player and official with the prestigious Member of The Order of The Niger national award. Despite the heart-wrenching loss in the AFCON final to Ivory Coast, love and recognition flowed abundantly.
Yet, President Tinubu’s grand gesture did not stop there. Like a benevolent valentine, he unveiled gifts that spoke volumes of appreciation and affection. The Federal High Court in Abuja, presided over by Justice Inyang Ekwo, has adjourned a high-stakes suit (FHC/ABJ/CS/1888/2026) filed by African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar and his party against President Bola Tinubu, the APC, and INEC until September 28. During Tuesday’s proceedings, a legal team led by Omosanya Popoola appeared for President Tinubu, while Alex Iziyon (SAN) represented INEC. However, Atiku’s counsel, Joseph Onu, argued that the President had not yet been personally served and requested an alternative service method or a formal written undertaking from Tinubu’s counsel. While INEC urged the court to press forward given that over 17 days had elapsed since filing, Justice Ekwo ruled that the court would not dictate how plaintiffs manage their case and granted the adjournment. In closing, the judge issued a stern warning to all parties and legal representatives to refrain from discussing the sub-judice matter in the media or on social media to avoid severe consequences.

The Kebbi State Police Command has successfully recovered six generators stolen from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) office located in Jega Local Government Area, though one had unfortunately been stripped into scrap parts by the suspects prior to retrieval. Muhammed subsequently implicated an accomplice, Yusuf Dudduke, leading to his arrest and bringing the total number of individuals detained across both cases to six. All suspects remain in police custody pending the conclusion of investigations before being charged to court.
Reacting to the incidents, Commissioner of Police CP Umar M. Hadejia issued a stern warning against the destruction and theft of public property and critical infrastructure, reassuring the public of the command’s unwavering commitment to prosecuting offenders. He further called on local residents to stay vigilant and immediately report any suspicious activities to the authorities.
