Woli Agba disclosed that the singer had repeatedly expressed worries about the quality and reliability of medical services in the country.

In a post shared on Instagram, the comedian revealed that ToluwaniSings had considered travelling abroad for medical treatment because of concerns over the challenges facing Nigeria’s healthcare sector.

According to Woli Agba, the late singer had spoken on several occasions about seeking treatment outside the country due to the difficulties patients encounter when trying to access adequate medical care.

He wrote, “What he feared most and talked about repeatedly was what eventually affected him. He said many times, if not for anything, he’ll consider going abroad just because of Nigeria’s unreliable healthcare system.”

Meanwhile, fresh details have emerged regarding the circumstances surrounding the death of Nigerian gospel singer Olayemi Bayonile Bolaji, popularly known as ToluwaniSings.

The singer’s personal assistant, Babadunni Gbolabo, had earlier revealed in a viral video that ToluwaniSings suddenly slumped and was taken to eight hospitals in Ibadan in an attempt to obtain emergency medical attention.

According to Gbolabo, the efforts to secure treatment were unsuccessful, as the hospitals allegedly turned them away.

He explained that some of the facilities cited the unavailability of doctors amid an ongoing strike as the reason they could not attend to the singer.

The revelations have drawn renewed attention to concerns surrounding access to emergency medical care in Nigeria, particularly the difficulties patients may face when seeking urgent treatment.

The Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, disclosed the development, adding that more than 50,000 personnel across agencies under his ministry have been promoted since Tinubu assumed office.

According to reports, Tunji-Ojo made the announcement on Friday during the closing ceremony of a training programme on border control and immigration management held at the Immigration Headquarters in Abuja.

The minister commended Tinubu for addressing long-standing promotion backlogs and improving the welfare of personnel serving across agencies under the Ministry of Interior.

He noted that the current administration had also increased recruitment, allowing the services to bring in tens of thousands of new personnel.

“It has never happened before, but Tinubu did it. He also increased the volume of recruitment, where we now have no fewer than 40,000 new recruits at once,” Tunji-Ojo said.

The minister further revealed that the President had approved salary increases alongside improved hazard and special allowances for security personnel.

He also highlighted the new pension arrangement for retired immigration chiefs, explaining that their previous pension payments were inadequate.

According to him, retired Comptrollers-General had previously received approximately ₦130,000 in pensions, an amount he described as discouraging.

“Previously, CGs had a pension of about ₦130,000; it was not encouraging. But what did the president do? He signed and approved salary for life for CGs and DCGs,” the minister stated.

Tunji-Ojo maintained that Tinubu had demonstrated a strong commitment to the welfare of both serving officers and retirees, urging personnel to reciprocate the government’s support through dedication and professionalism.

“This president has cared for the services more than any president in the history of Nigeria. He has given you his all,” he said.

He added that the President expected personnel to discharge their responsibilities effectively and ensure Nigerians received satisfactory services from the agencies under the ministry.

The minister also described Tinubu as a leader whose policies were focused on long-term national development rather than immediate political gains.

According to Tunji-Ojo, the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda seeks to establish strong institutions capable of continuing to serve Nigerians beyond Tinubu’s tenure.

“President Bola Tinubu has never been about the immediate, but the future. He understands that the most prosperous nations do not boil, cook, and eat their seeds; they plant them.

“What this president is doing is planting the seed so that the future will be abundant,” he said.

Tunji-Ojo further noted that Tinubu understood his time in office was limited, stressing that the enduring impact of his administration would ultimately be measured by the strength of the institutions and systems established for future generations.

Reports indicate that the 86-year-old Dutch football tactician is in critical condition at a hospital in Arnhem, his hometown in the Netherlands.

According to The PUNCH, Westerhof’s wife, Lilian, disclosed the development to journalist Onochie Anibeze on Friday night, revealing that her husband was receiving treatment at Rijnstate Hospital.

Expressing the family’s distress over the diagnosis, she said the doctors had recently confirmed that the former coach had colon cancer.

“The doctor just told us he has colon cancer and we are all devastated. He is in a critical condition and emotional, talking about our two daughters. He wants to live. We need help. We need prayers,” she said.

Lilian explained that Westerhof was admitted to the hospital on Wednesday, adding that the cancer diagnosis was a fresh development in his ongoing health struggles.

She also revealed that the former Super Eagles manager had been battling Alzheimer’s disease before the latest diagnosis.

The coach’s wife further expressed concern about the medical care he was receiving at the Arnhem facility, stating that she hoped to transfer him to a better-equipped hospital in Amsterdam or Germany.

“They appear to have given up. I don’t understand,” she lamented.

Westerhof, who celebrated his 86th birthday in May, remains a significant figure in Nigerian football history for his achievements with the national team.

Under his leadership, Nigeria qualified for its first-ever FIFA World Cup in 1994 and won the Africa Cup of Nations in Tunisia that same year.

The Dutch tactician also guided the Super Eagles to a silver medal at the 1990 AFCON and a bronze medal in 1992.

During his tenure, Nigeria climbed to fifth place in the FIFA world rankings, marking a historic milestone for the country and African football as a whole.
