Forgery Allegations: Ex-SGF Testifies in Court, Reveals Buhari’s Signature Forged for $6.2m Withdrawal The trial of former Central Bank Governor, Godwin Emefiele, took a dramatic turn as ex-Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha, appeared in court as a key witness. Mustapha disclosed startling revelations, asserting that both his and President Buhari’s signatures were forged in the withdrawal of $6.2 million from the CBN……..CONTINUE READING
During his testimony before the Abuja High Court, Mustapha vehemently denied involvement in any correspondence leading to the fund’s withdrawal, purportedly for foreign election observers. He emphasized that documents authorizing the withdrawal did not originate from his office or the presidency.
Highlighting inconsistencies in the forged documents, Mustapha pointed out irregularities in the seal, language, and signature purportedly from President Buhari. He underscored that such requests for funds were not within the purview of the SGF’s office but fell under the domain of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Contrary to earlier claims, Mustapha clarified that he neither recognized nor employed an individual named Jibril Abubakar, allegedly involved in the transaction. He further revealed that Vice President Osinbajo, not President Buhari, presided over the FEC meeting on the day of the purported approval.
The trial, adjourned until March 7, centers on a 20-count charge by the EFCC against Emefiele, ranging from forgery to breach of trust. The charges allege Emefiele’s involvement in obtaining funds through false pretense and awarding contracts to entities linked to his family members.
As the legal proceedings unfold, the courtroom is abuzz with anticipation, awaiting further revelations and clarifications on the intricate web of allegations surrounding the alleged financial impropriety.
