During an interview on Channels TV’s Sunday Politics, Oshiomhole argued that holding Tinubu accountable for the underperformance of his predecessor, Muhammadu Buhari, was unjustifiable, despite Tinubu’s pivotal role in Buhari’s emergence as president in 2015.
Oshiomhole contended that Nigerians were still grappling with the enduring consequences of failed policies from the Buhari administration.
He stated, “My primary loyalty is to the Nigerian nation. Even before the last president left office, I openly criticized and disassociated myself from what I perceived as reckless policies that exacerbated the suffering of the populace. Many governors shared my sentiments and even pursued legal action against some of those policies.
“The long-term repercussions of those policies continue to affect us today… Bola Tinubu, who was not a minister or adviser in that government, cannot be held responsible for its actions, whether right or wrong.”
Oshiomhole’s remarks come amid efforts by the Tinubu-led administration to rejuvenate the country’s faltering economy.
It is worth noting that protests have erupted nationwide in response to escalating food prices and the increasing unaffordability of essential goods, reflecting the growing economic challenges faced by Nigerian
