His artistic talents, nurtured by his grandmother’s teachings, took root early on. Despite societal norms that viewed pottery-making as a feminine pursuit, Oloya pursued his passion relentlessly, drawing inspiration from his surroundings and experiences. Even during the darkest moments of his abduction by the LRA, Oloya found solace in sculpting with clay, a therapeutic outlet that helped him cope with unimaginable horrors.

Following his escape from captivity, Oloya’s commitment to art only deepened. He worked tirelessly to hone his skills, eventually graduating from the Makerere School of Fine Art. Despite facing numerous challenges along the way, including financial hardship and societal stigma, Oloya remained steadfast in his pursuit of artistic expression.

Today, Oloya’s work transcends traditional boundaries, blending elements of sculpture, painting, and mixed media to convey powerful messages about culture, identity, and the environment.
