Suspected Rapist Burned Alive By Mob In Benue Community

Botswar was accused of raping and murdering his brother’s wife on Friday, February 2. Reports indicate that he accompanied the victim to the farm on the day of the incident, but neither of them returned home.
Following a search, the woman’s lifeless body was discovered. She exhibited signs of sexual assault and had machete wounds on her neck and nose. Botswar was subsequently traced to Tse-Agberagba, the headquarters of Konshisha LGA, where his mother had remarried after her initial marriage.
Upon his apprehension and confession to the rape and murder of the victim, members of the community took matters into their own hands and set him on fire.
According to a source who spoke with The Nation:
“The woman was Botswar’s brother’s wife. They were last seen together on Friday on their way to the farm, but they never returned.
“When the victim’s body was discovered on Saturday, it was evident that Botswar had attacked her with a machete, causing injuries to her head and nose. He then took advantage of her while she lay on the ground, beneath a mango tree, and raped her.
“It appears the woman resisted his advances when he attempted to force himself upon her. Consequently, while she was pushing a wheelbarrow ahead of him on their return journey from the farm, Botswar assaulted and raped her.”
The source also mentioned that the mob refrained from handing over the suspect to the police out of fear that he might evade justice if released.
