The incident unfolded in Kogo village within the Faskari Local Government Area of the state on Thursday, February 8, at approximately 8:20 pm.
Per the accounts gathered, the assailants infiltrated the community discreetly, possibly parking their motorcycles at a distance to avoid detection. Subsequently, they targeted a specific household and seized sixteen residents, including men, women, and children.
The sudden attack caught the villagers by surprise, leaving them in a state of shock and profound apprehension about the safety of their abducted neighbors and the overall security of the area.
While awaiting updates on the situation, concerned residents have shared their anxieties with the media.
As of the time of compiling this report, the state police command has yet to issue an official statement regarding the incident.
Bandits’ Threat to Katsina Governor
Meanwhile, during an expanded emergency security council meeting at the Government House, Katsina State Governor, Dikko Umaru Radda, revealed that rampaging bandits operating in some parts of the state are threatening to attack him.
Radda made this disclosure during the security meeting, which was attended by heads of security agencies, traditional and religious leaders, government officials, and members of the business community.
Despite the bandits’ threat, the governor expressed confidence, stating, “God is with us, and he will protect us.” He reiterated that his administration remains undeterred and will continue to implement dynamic security strategies to address banditry and other security concerns in the state.
