Hunt Intensifies As Gunmen Abduct 14 Abuja-Bound Travelers In Kogi State

A determined search is underway as the Kogi State Police Command launches an intensive manhunt for the kidnappers who seized 14 travelers in two luxury buses en route to Abuja. Nnamdi, who broke the news on his verified X (formerly Twitter) handle, revealed that the GIG and ABC Transport buses, including one carrying his wife, were hijacked by kidnappers. The GIG bus, which departed from Umuahia, was reportedly hijacked in Kogi State. The kidnappers, demanding a ransom of N15 million, contacted Nnamdi via his wife’s phone.

The Kogi State Police Command, confirming the incident, disclosed that a search and rescue operation is underway. The Area Commander, leading the effort, located the two buses but could not determine the number of occupants.

In a subsequent statement, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP William Aya, clarified that the ‘God is Good’ Motors had 12 passengers, while ABC Transport had two passengers. The driver of the ‘God is Good’ Motors, Mr. Godwin Oniovosa, was later rescued, with the bush combing operation ongoing.

Attempts to gather further information from God is Good Motors’ customer care unit were met with declined comments, redirecting inquiries to an authorized senior officer, Chinyere. However, subsequent attempts to contact Chinyere were unsuccessful, as her provided contact information was blocked.

Similarly, as of the report filing, ABC Transport’s telephone lines were not accessible. The incident reflects the increasing challenges of security in the region, prompting intensified efforts to ensure the safe recovery of the abducted travelers
