The instability inside the PDP in Edo State exemplifies the expression “e don cast.” If this colloquial word were to appear in a dictionary, the image would most likely be of Godwin Obaseki.
Over the weekend, the PDP conducted its delegate elections across the wards to choose representatives for the upcoming gubernatorial primaries. However, the chairman of the committee, H.E. Seyi Makinde, stepped down from his position, alleging delegate manipulation. Enugu State Governor Mbah promptly assumed control, and the process proceeded as scheduled.
Nine aspirants labeled it a COMEDY and withdrew from the process out of the eleven contenders. Chief Dan Obi likened it to “Obaseki’s movie” starring Mbah. Furthermore, Anslem Ojezua, the former APC Edo State chairman, who stood by Obaseki throughout the APC conflict and defected with the Governor to the PDP, has also criticized the procedure, asserting that it was Obaseki’s election.
Anselm Ojezua made this claim during an interview on Channels Television. During the interview, Anslem Ojezua said, “what they conducted yesterday was Godwin Obaseki’s congress and not PDP congress. That process was either sold to him (Obaseki) by people in the National Working Committee.”
“In fact, I am aware that there are members of the national working committee who are actually shocked with what has happened in Edo State, and we are going to take it up. The sad part of it is that the illegality they have put in the process, PDP may not have a candidate in this coming election.”

Rt Hon Omoregie Ogbeide-Ihama, who stepped down for Obaseki, thereby enabling him to secure the PDP 2020 ticket, finds himself in a similar predicament. The “SAME SNAKE WEY BITE THE REST TAKE SAME TAIL FLOG AM”
Likewise, Deputy Governor Philip Shaibu, who mobilized a team to defend Obaseki, now faces EXTINCTION by the same Obaseki. Shaibu’s position is belittled, akin to a mere “tissue paper,” echoing the sentiments of Idi Amin Dada of Uganda.
Shaibu’s diminished status is evident by his lack of a press crew, and there’s a concern he may be reduced to traveling only with local vigilantes(it is that bad). Obaseki’s treatment has depreciated Shaibu’s importance to the extent that even a spare tire holds more value than the office of the deputy governor of Edo State.
Omosede Igbinedion, who stood firmly by Obaseki’s side, backed by the entire Igbinedion dynasty in support of his administration, now finds herself pushed to the reserve backstage .This clear shift indicates a lack of support from the PDP for Asue Ighodalo, whom they all assert is an outsider.
For instance on Social Media Asue Ighodalo is always refereed to as “25 Missed calls”, referring to someone as “missed calls” is a colloquial way of saying that the person is difficult to reach or hard to get in touch with.
The term likens the individual to missed phone calls, suggesting that attempts to connect with them are unsuccessful or that they are often unavailable. It can imply that the person is not easily accessible or is not responsive to communication attempts. This expression is often used humorously to convey the idea of someone being elusive or hard to reach.
Obaseki no longer enjoys the backing of Nyesom Wike, who holds significant sway within the party and plays a crucial role in determining the gubernatorial candidate.
So, as it stands, E DON CAST; the PDP’s forced marriage is on the brink of collapse.

The former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory is also facing a separate case instituted by the Department of State Services (DSS) over the alleged unlawful interception of communications involving the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu.
In June 2026, the Federal High Court in Abuja, presided over by Justice Joyce Abdulmalik, declined to modify the bail conditions previously imposed on El-Rufai in the DSS case.
Separately, the Kaduna State High Court denied him bail in a corruption-related case and ordered that he remain in ICPC custody pending further proceedings.
Commenting on the developments during an interview with DCL Hausa, Ashiru alleged that Governor Sani played a role in the circumstances surrounding El-Rufai’s current legal troubles.
The ADC chieftain maintained that he had no personal disagreement with the former governor, whom he described as an elder brother.
“I have no problem whatsoever with Malam Nasir El-Rufai. He is my elder brother,” Ashiru said.
He further alleged that Sani was behind the situation confronting El-Rufai.
“I want to reiterate that it was Governor Uba Sani who orchestrated the situation El-Rufai currently finds himself in,” he stated.
Ashiru’s remarks add to the political tensions surrounding the former Kaduna governor as he continues to face legal proceedings over the allegations against him.

The council made changes to the leadership of its Youth Mobilisation and Women Mobilisation directorates while introducing new appointments to strengthen its campaign operations.
According to a statement issued on Tuesday by the council’s Secretary, Hope Uzodimma, Dr Farouk Adamu Aliyu has been appointed Director of the Directorate of Stage Organisation and Management, with Adejare Bello named as Co-Director.
The council also appointed Ayo Olawande as Director of Youth Mobilisation, while Dayo Israel will serve as Deputy Director.
For the Women Mobilisation Directorate, Dr Mary Aille Idele was appointed Director, with Dr Betta Edu named Deputy Director and Hon. Imaan Suleman appointed Secretary.
The council explained that the changes were aimed at improving its organisational structure, strengthening coordination among its various units and enhancing operational efficiency as preparations for the 2027 presidential election gather momentum.
In the statement, the council said the appointments reflected its determination to establish an inclusive, coordinated and results-oriented campaign structure capable of mobilising support for Tinubu’s re-election.
“The adjustments reflect the Council’s commitment to building a well-coordinated, inclusive and results-driven campaign structure capable of effectively mobilising Nigerians, particularly young people and women, in support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid,” the statement read.
The council called on the newly appointed officials to bring their experience, dedication and organisational skills to bear on their respective assignments.
It further urged them to maintain close collaboration with other directorates and relevant campaign structures to advance the council’s objectives and ensure the effective execution of its mobilisation and campaign strategies ahead of the 2027 polls.

Ngogbehei argued that governance could suffer if Tinubu embarked on an extensive campaign tour covering all 36 states of the federation.
He made the remarks on Tuesday in Abuja during a media parley alongside the movement’s National Coordinator, Engr. Ibrahim Said Uba, where he explained why the President might choose not to attend campaign events in every state.
The Director-General of the Tinubu Movement for Sustainable Governance, popularly known as Tinubu Must Stay (TMS), also challenged critics of petrol subsidy removal to engage in an open debate on the policy, urging them to propose alternatives that reflect Nigeria’s economic realities.
According to Ngogbehei, one of the major challenges facing the country is the difficulty of balancing governance with electioneering activities.
He maintained that the early commencement of political mobilisation for subsequent elections has increasingly distracted political leaders from fulfilling their responsibilities to the people.
“One of the greatest challenges we are having in this country is the time to govern and the time to do electioneering,” he said.
He added that political activities often begin shortly after leaders assume office, leaving them with less time to concentrate on governance.
“A president gets into office, and one year after he gets into office, they start preparing for the next election. And what suffers? Governance suffers,” Ngogbehei stated.
He explained that Tinubu had delegated campaign responsibilities to trusted associates to enable him to concentrate on implementing government policies and programmes.
According to him, the President’s approach reflects a deliberate decision to prioritise governance while allowing members of his political team to handle mobilisation activities.
“The President has said, ‘I want to focus on governance. I want to keep an eye on the key things that I am doing. Let the people I have worked with go out there and do the work.’ And in some instances where I need to come in, I will come in. It is pure delegation,” he said.
Ngogbehei further argued that effective leadership involves building capable teams and strong institutions rather than requiring a leader to be physically present at every activity.
He stressed that leaders who have invested in developing their teams should have confidence in their ability to carry out assigned responsibilities.
“Every good leader must not always be there. If you are a leader that has built resources, that built people, you should trust your people to do the job,” he said.
He also emphasised the need for Nigeria to develop strong institutions capable of functioning effectively without depending entirely on influential individuals.
“We don’t want to have a country where you have strong personalities and weak institutions. And that is what we are trying to build for Nigeria,” he added.
The TMS director-general urged Nigerians to consider the possible consequences of expecting Tinubu to personally attend campaign rallies in every state, warning that excessive electioneering could reduce the time available for governance.
“Imagine that the President says, ‘Okay, I am going to be in all the campaigns in thirty-six states of the country.’ What suffers? That is the bottom line,” he said.
Ngogbehei acknowledged that Tinubu could tour the country if he chose to do so, noting that the President had continued to travel across Nigeria. However, he appealed to Nigerians to understand his decision to delegate some campaign responsibilities while focusing on governance.
