The candidates stepping aside are Zipporah Bijeh from the Accord Party, David Sunday from the Zenith Labour Party, Idris Inuwa representing the Social Democratic Party, and David Bartholomew from the All Progressives Grand Alliance.
Speaking on behalf of the group, Inuwa, the SDP candidate, announced the collective decision to the media in Kaduna on Thursday. He attributed their withdrawal to the commendable leadership qualities exhibited by Governor Uba Sani in Kaduna State. They believe that having the APC candidate in the State House of Assembly will facilitate smoother lobbying and the realization of projects for the benefit of the constituents.
Inuwa expressed, “Considering the outstanding leadership qualities demonstrated by Governor Uba Sani in Kaduna State, we are confident that with the APC representation in the State House of Assembly, obtaining support for projects and other initiatives that will benefit our people will be more accessible. This is why we have joined forces to endorse the APC candidate for victory in the upcoming election on Saturday.
“We entered the contest to represent Chikun, aspiring for our people to experience the fruits of democracy. Among the candidates, we believe the APC candidate is well-equipped for this task. Thus, we have decided to support him in winning the election. Governor Uba Sani has consistently shown an unparalleled commitment to the state’s development, ensuring inclusivity for all. Having a House member aligned with the governor’s political party is crucial for the seamless enjoyment of democratic dividends in our constituency.”
