The victory propels Jannik Sinner into his first-ever grand slam final, where he will face either German sixth seed Alexander Zverev or Russian third seed Daniil Medvedev on Sunday, January 28, in the 2024 Australian Open final.

During the semi-final clash, Djokovic fought off a match point, but his overall performance fell below his usual high standards, committing 54 unintentional errors and failing to generate a single break point.

Reflecting on the match, Sinner expressed his delight and acknowledged the improvement since his previous encounter with Djokovic at Wimbledon last year. “It was a very tough match. I started really well. He missed in the first two sets. I felt like he was not feeling that great on court, so I just tried to keep pushing,” said Sinner.

He continued, “I think we play really similarly – you have to return as many balls as possible, he’s such an incredible server. So I was just trying to push him around a little bit – I’m not going to tell you the tactics.”

Djokovic, on the other hand, admitted, “I was, in a way, shocked with my level, you know, in a bad way. There was not much I was doing right in the first two sets.” The unexpected defeat leaves Djokovic reflecting on his performance as Sinner advances to his historic opportunity in the Australian Open final.

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has labelled former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi and former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi as “political gamblers.”....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Wike accused the trio of seeking the presidency without presenting a clear vision for the country.

According to reports, the FCT minister made the remarks on Friday during a Rainbow Coalition town hall meeting in Ayama, Abua/Odual Local Government Area of Rivers State.

Addressing an audience comprising traditional rulers, political leaders, academics, women and youths, Wike urged Nigerians to scrutinise the track records of presidential aspirants instead of being swayed by campaign promises.

He singled out Atiku for criticism over his repeated attempts to become Nigeria’s president.

Wike cautioned Nigerians against entrusting the country’s future to politicians he described as gamblers.

“Don’t trust your destiny to political gamblers. Don’t trust your destiny to ‘kalokalo’ people.

“These people are political gamblers, and you cannot give your destiny to ‘kalokalo’ people; you cannot hand over your destiny to political gamblers. Give your destiny to somebody we know, who has tried all this, and he has done it,” he said.

The FCT minister also used the occasion to highlight his achievements during his tenure as Rivers State governor, challenging his predecessors to identify projects they executed in Abua/Odual.

He maintained that his administration made significant contributions to the development of the area, particularly in road construction and improving connectivity.

“I challenge any other person who was governor to come to Abua/Odual and point out what he or she did for the people of Abua/Odual,” Wike stated.

Beyond his criticism of opposition figures, the former Rivers governor called on political leaders and stakeholders in the area to resolve their differences and unite ahead of the 2027 general elections.

He urged party members to put aside internal disagreements and work together, warning that divisions could affect their performance at the polls.

“We don’t want to lose one vote in this January 16, 2027, general election. I want all of us to win with a margin that will surprise everybody,” he said.

Wike also declared his support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid, commending the president’s administration for what he described as efforts to stabilise key sectors of the economy and restore industrial harmony in tertiary institutions.

Veteran Nigerian rapper Michael Ugochukwu Stephens, popularly known as Ruggedman, has opened up about why he remains unmarried at the age of 52, attributing his marital status to the demands of his music career and the collapse of a five-year relationship.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

In an interview with The Cable, the rapper explained that he began his career during a period when Nigerian musicians had to work tirelessly to establish themselves and achieve success in the entertainment industry.

According to Ruggedman, the pressure and commitment required to build his career consumed much of his time, making it difficult for him to settle down.

He noted that some of his colleagues were fortunate to find partners who understood the demands of their profession and were willing to support them throughout their journeys.

The rapper cited fellow musician Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba, as an example of someone who found partners willing to share the challenges and experiences associated with his career. He, however, said he had not enjoyed the same luck in his relationships.

Ruggedman also disclosed that he was once involved in a five-year relationship that he believed would eventually lead to marriage. However, the relationship ended after an incident he did not reveal during the interview.

He said, “I am one of those who got into the industry back in the day where all we had was our hustle and we faced it and before you know it, time was gone. 2baba was lucky to have found partners who were ready to walk that road with him, I wasn’t that lucky. I had a five year relationship that I thought would lead to marriage but something happened and it crashed.

“Currently, I’m not in any relationship. The only thing I vowed is that I will never have a child out of wedlock. No, I don’t think it’s too late. It’s never too late. As long as you are alive, it’s never too late to get married. I am very straight.”

The rapper maintained that he does not consider himself too old to get married, insisting that marriage remains possible at any stage of life.

He also reiterated his decision not to have a child outside marriage, adding that he is currently not involved in any romantic relationship.
