Amaechi shared this insight during an appearance on the Arise Television program titled ‘Perspectives.’
The former minister pointed out that obtaining regular nine-to-five jobs is relatively straightforward in developed countries due to their societal structure. However, he emphasized that diverse opportunities are available within the country.
“I have consistently advised against individuals leaving the country. Securing a nine-to-five job is something you can easily obtain. You may not encounter the opportunities that present themselves in Nigeria. You could wake up one day and find yourself as a minister or governor; it just happens,” Amaechi remarked.
Acknowledging his lack of knowledge about the workings of employment in other countries, he suggested that those seeking opportunities should stay in Nigeria, while those desiring a nine-to-five job and safety may consider migration.
Amaechi, who served two terms as a minister in Rivers State, urged Nigerian youths to position themselves to harness the various opportunities available in the country.
In a related development last week, President Bola Tinubu reassured Nigerians not to be alarmed by the significant emigration of young professionals to other countries. Tinubu, during an official visit to Imo State for the inauguration of Governor Hope Uzodimma’s second term, expressed that more Nigerians would be trained to fill the resulting vacancies due to the individuals relocating overseas.
