Records show that Spiff submitted his formal resignation letter on May 29, which was officially received by the state government on June 1. While the letter expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve, it offered no specific reasons for his departure.

Despite the formal tone of his resignation, Spiff’s recent social media activity strongly indicates a fundamental political shift. Even before formally stepping down, he began utilizing his platforms to actively support and promote the NDC. Notably, his profile picture was changed to show him wearing apparel associated with the party.

His digital trail reveals numerous posts predicting strong electoral performances for the NDC in Bayelsa State, including claims that the party will secure key seats in both the Senate and the House of Representatives while defeating rivals across various regions. Furthermore, Spiff has actively encouraged public support for the NDC, describing a positive political trajectory for its members.

This timing has led to widespread speculation that Spiff’s political loyalties had already shifted well before his actual exit from the state government, potentially indicating he was working to further the NDC’s agenda while still employed by Governor Diri’s administration.

Abdulmumin Jibrin, a four-time member of the House of Representatives, has confidently predicted that President Bola Tinubu will secure re-election in 2027. “I will say on a general note, on a general scale, and with the reality on ground and all of the political dynamics that we can see, no matter how you analyse it… the opposition lost it already.”

He further added that even if prominent opposition leaders—such as Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, and Seyi Makinde—were to unite behind a single platform, President Tinubu would still prevail.
