The 54th Annual Meeting of the WEF, themed “Rebuilding Trust,” will bring together over 52 Heads of State, including Xi Jinping and Olaf Scholz, along with 1500 CEOs and Chairpersons of major global companies, from January 15 to 19, 2024.
This forum aligns with Nigeria’s economic objectives, emphasizing transparency, consistency, and accountability, which are crucial values in addressing global challenges. Ambassador Tuggar highlighted the significance of Nigeria’s participation in promoting principles aligned with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, focusing on job creation, access to capital, inclusivity, and the rule of law. The forum’s goal is to offer solutions to global challenges, particularly for transitioning countries.
He said, “This year, the organizers of WEF are focusing on the fundamental principles of driving trust, including transparency, consistency, and accountability. All these soundly resonate with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.”
Vice President Shettima is expected to engage global investors, participate in Nigeria-focused programs, including a Country Strategy Dialogue, and attend various private meetings and events aimed at promoting Nigeria’s economic interests.
The World Economic Forum, established in 1971, engages leaders worldwide to shape global, regional, and industry agendas.

During Tuesday’s proceedings, a legal team led by Omosanya Popoola appeared for President Tinubu, while Alex Iziyon (SAN) represented INEC. However, Atiku’s counsel, Joseph Onu, argued that the President had not yet been personally served and requested an alternative service method or a formal written undertaking from Tinubu’s counsel.
